Description
BETTIOE. HamQ-TugLoop.
No. 215.558.. -Patented May 20,1879.
2 W 1 w w INVENTOR ATTORN EYS N. PEI'ERS. PHOTO-LITHOGRAPHER. WASHINGTON n c UNITED STATES PATENT OEEroE.
MYERS S. BETTIOE, OF ATTICA, INDIANA.
IMPROVEMENT IN HAME-TUG LOOPS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 215,558, dated May 20, 1859; application filed March 25, 1879.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MYERS S. BETTIGE, of Attica, in the county of Fountain, and in the State of Indiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Haine-Tug Loops;
, and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, making a part of this specification.
The nature of my invention consists in the construction and arrangement of a loop for the annexed drawings, in which-- Figure 1 is a perspective view, showing a hame-tug and trace with my hame-tug loop applied thereto. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section of the same. Fig. 3 is a detailed view of the loop. v
A represents the hame-tug, and B is the end of the trace.
My hame-tug loop is constructed of a plate, 0, having its on ds turned at right angles thereto to form the side arms or cars, D D. In the center of the plate 0 is a projecting pin or tongue, a. Each side plate or ear D has a semicircular opening, I), from the center of the straight side of which extends a slot, d, nearly to the end of the ear. F is a semicircular or half-round key, of such size as to pass through the opening b in either ear D, and at each end of said key is a half-round lug, h, havinga shoulder, i, at its outer end.
The plate 0 is placed against the hame-tug A at any point desired, with the tongue at entering a hole therein, as shown in Fig. 2, and the ears D I) projecting on the sides of the tug. The key F is then passed through the opening b in one of the ears D until the key fits between the ears and simply the lugs h h project through the same. The key is then turned around, when it cannot become detached, but remains in the loop 0 D. The end of the trace B can then be easily pushed under the key, which moves outward by reason of the lugs h entering the slots d, the flat side of the key being against the trace and the round side out.
This loop can be easily changed on the hametug as required for holding the end of the trace, according as the trace is lengthened or shortened, and when the end of the trace is thus held it will not sag outward, as is often the case in ordinary harness.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is a 1. A hame-tug loop consisting of the plate 0, with ears D D, and a removable and reversible key, F, substantially as herein set forth.
2. The combination of the plate 0, having tongue-a, the ears D, with half-round openings b and slots (1, and the half-round key F,
with lugs h at each end, substantially as and for the purposes herein set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand this 19th day of March, 1879.
MYERS S. BETTICE. Witnesses:
ISAAC E. ScHooNovER, 7 CHARLES SHrPPs.
