DRAIN CABINET Filed Sept. 15, 1937 Patented Oct. 18, 1938 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE 1 Claim.
The invention relates to a cabinet and more especially to a drain cabinet.
'I'he primary object of the invention is the provision of a cabinet of this character, wherein the same has arranged therein a series of compartments, these being independent of each other and are formed with hopper-like drain bottoms provided with drain faucets so that liquid held within such compartments can be conveniently and easily drained from the containers therefor, the cabinet being useful for the draining of liquid such as water, Syrups, greases, oils or the like as well as for drying purposes of the containers or the like carrying such liquid.
Another object of the invention is the provision of a cabinet of this character, wherein in each compartment is arranged a releasable rack for the carriage of receptacles having liquid therein to be dispensed or drained from suchcompartment, the cabinet being useful in homes, hospitals, garages, gasoline stations or other places for dispensing of liquids.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a cabinet of this character, which is simple in construction, thoroughly reliable and eicient in operation, portable, neat in appearance, and inexpensive to manufacture.
With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing, which discloses the preferred embodiment of the invention and pointed out in the claim hereunto appended.
In the accompanying drawing:
Figure 1 is a vertical longitudinal sectional View through a cabinet constructed in accordance with the invention.
Figure 2 is a fragmentary transverse sectional view thereof.
Figure 3 is a perspective view of the basketlike rack removed from one of the compartments of the cabinet.
Similar reference characters indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views in the drawing.
Referring to the drawing in detail, A designates generally a. portion of the cabinet constituting the present invention and is in the form of a stand I 0 having corner legs II provided with Wheel casters I2 of conventional kind. In the upper portion of the stand IB arranged side by side is a plurality of receivers I3, these forming independent compartments I4 interiorly thereof and open through thetop of the stand while the lower portions of said receivers are formed with hopper shaped bottoms I5 carrying at their lowermost portions valved cut-offs or faucets I6 so that the compartments I4 can be properly drained on the opening of said faucets. The stand I0 in the lower portion thereof carries a. shelf I1 on which can be placed receptacles I8 which, when below the faucets on the turning on of the latter, will allow the drainage from the compartments I4 to flow into said receptacles I8.
In each compartment I4 is arranged a rack including a reticulated bottom I9 having upstanding corner hangers 20, these at their upper ends being provided with hooks 2 I, which are adapted to engage with the walls of the receivers at opposite ends thereof for the suspension of the rack Within the compartment. The rack I9 is open at the sides and ends and is provided with longitudinal and transverse braces 22 and 23, respectively, these being unitary with the hangers 20 while swingingly fitted with the braces 22 are loop handles 24 so that the racks can be readily removed from the compartment I4 when hung within the receivers I3. Adapted to be placed on the racks are containers 25 holding liquids, these being open in a downward direction to allow full emptying of the contents of such receivers when upon the rack.
The stand I 0 at its top carries a vertically swinging lid or cover 26 hanging at 21 and on the opening thereof free access can be had to the receivers I3 which are open at their upper ends or tops. These receivers I3 are permanently built within the stand I0 and likewise the shelf I'I is permanently built therein.
When the containers 25 have been emptied when within the racks, the same can be readily dried and their contents fully drained therefrom, the drainings being discharged through the faucets I6 into the receptacles IB, which are placed upon the shelf I'I in the stand I0.
The receivers I3 are formed in a single body unit 28 made from sheet metal or the like.
What is claimed is:
A cabinet of the character described comprising a stand, a drain compartment arranged in said stand and having a hopper shaped bottom, a valve arranged below said compartment. within said stand, a reticulated rack removably suspended within the compartment, upstanding hooks arranged on said rack and separably engageable with the walls of said compartment for the suspension of the rack therein, and a cover carried by the stand for closing the compartment at its top and holding the hooks on the rack engaged with the walls of said compartment.
