A slider without a suitable and effective locking device will slip along the fastener elements, thus causing the fastener to open up when a lateral pull occurs in the locality of the slider. It is accordingly quite essential to have a lock slider on slide fasteners '15 which are applied to clothing and many other Fig. 1 is a general plan view of a fastener con structed according to my invention;

The fastener illustrated comprises a pair of H5 flexible stringers, herein fabric tapes 6, having attached thereto fastener elements 1. These fastener elements may be of any known form and will not be described in detail. The elements illustrated correspond to a well-known type now on the market and for a full understanding of the construction and operation of the fastener, reference is made to Sundback Patent 1,219,881. The slider for interlocking and releasing the fastener elements comprises a pair of overlying 45 parallel Wings 8 integrally connected at one end by a neck 9, and having lateral flanges ID. This structure provides a Y-shaped-channel on the interior of the fastener having diverging branches II at the rear end with the wing con- 50 nection 9 between them. The pull member II are cut in the wing and extend from points substantially midway between the ends of the slider longitudinally along the sides of the lug l4 and neck '9 through the end of said top wing having 7 the connection. The pull member is formed with cams l6 on one or both sides so that when the pull is pushed down against the slider in either of its extreme positions, the cams 16 will depress the flexible portions H and, lock the' slider. The locking is accomplished through the friction caused by the clamping of the flexible portion l1 against the fastener elements I. The locking strength depends upon the clamping force which can be quite a considerable amount due to the proximity of the pull pivot axis to the integral .neck connection9. The flexible portions H are connected to the slider across a relatively narrow section so that they can be easily flexed and at the same time, the strength of the slider for its normal functions has not been materially decreased.
While I have shown and described in this application one embodiment which my invention may assume in practice, it will be understood that this embodiment is merely for the purposes of illustration and description and that various other forms may be devised Within the scope .of my invention as described in the appended claims.
What I claim as my invention is: I
1. A slider for slide fasteners comprising overlying wings, and a connection at one end, said wings and connection defining a Y-shaped channel with the connection between the diverging branches of the channel, one wing having slits extending from intermediate points through the end having the connection, and a pull member pivoted to the slider adjacent the rear end and having cams thereon for flexing the slitted portions of the wing on opposite sides of the pivot to lock the slider.
2. A slider for slide fasteners comprising overlying wings, a neck integrally connecting said wings at the rear end, a pull member having a fixed pivot at the rear end of the slider adjacent said integral connection, one of said wings having slits extending longitudinally of the slider on opposite sides of said neck from points approximately midway between the ends of the slider through the end of the wing having the connection, said pull member having cams for depressing the slitted portions of the wing to lock the slider.
3. A slider for slide fasteners comprising parallel wings, a central wing connection at one end of the slider, a lug adjacent said wing connection; a pull tab pivoted to said lug, the wing adjacent said lug having the slits I! one on each side of said lug extending through the end of the wing having said connection and providing flexible side portions H on opposite sides of said wing connection, and cam means on said pull tab for pressing said flexible portions inwardly to lock' the slider.
4. A slider for slide fasteners comprising over- 1o lying wings and a connection between the wings at one end, said wings and connection defining a. Y-sha'ped channel with the connection between the diverging branches of the channel, one wing having a slit extending from an intermediate point through the end of the wing having the connection; and a pull member pivoted to the slider adjacent the end having the connection and having means thereon for flexing the slitted portion of the wing to lock the slider.
