The tube 25 is held in supports 26 extended tupwardly from theframe II and Xedthereto in.k any suitable manner, these supports being adapted to hold the said tube relatively taut and .are located next to opposite ends thereof. o At one end of the frame Il is a bracket 2l carrying a depending cylindrical filling :andv evacuating head 284 having interiorly thereof a suction chamber 2.9 jfrom'which leadsjanoutlet suctionv nipple 3l]y having connection by-an elbow 3l with the tube 25at oneend thereof, the ,other end of the tube being open tothe atmosphere. Leading into the head 28 is a-,feed nipple 32 to which is connected a-lling tube 33 adaptedto Abe lowered into a liquid vat 34 to'e'xtend ,into the liquid below the. level thereof within Vthe vat evacuatihg head` of and this endoof the said tubeis fitted with agreturn check valve 35. Depending into the chamber 29 is a filling nozzle 36 which fits the filling passage 31 from the nipple 32 to the said nozzle 36. The chamber 29 in the head 28 opens centrally through the bottom end of the said head and suitably tting this open end of the chamber is a centering sleeve 38 to be accommodated within the open mouth of a bottle 39 to be lled while concentrically about the said sleeve 38 is a sponge rubber sealing cap or gasket 40 which seals the mouth of the bottle 39 when the same is pressed against said cap or gasket on the slight protruding of the sleeve 38 and nozzle 36 within said bottle mouth.
One of the rods I2 has adjustably fitted thereon a stop 4I which limits the movement of the carriage in one direction upon the tracks.
When it is desired to fill the bottle 39 with liquid within the Vat 34, the bottle is pressed against the cap or gasket 40 With the spout 36 slightly protruding into the mouth of said bottle and the sleeve 38 fitting within said mouth for the centering of the'bottle when the carriage, which isnormally close to the end of the tube 25 next tothe bracket 21, is moved, motion being imported thereto by the attachment of a hand crank or other power medium (not shown) to the end 42 of the axle I8 and thus the tube 25 will become compressed causing a suction interiorly thereof and in this fashion air will be evacuated from within the bottle 39 and the liquid from the vat 34 will be drawn into said bottle. The extent of movement of the carriage regulates the quantity of liquid to be drawn into the bottle 39 and thus by setting the stop 4I the said carriage can be stopped at a, determined locality and in this fashion avoiding any possibility of over-lling of the bottle or overflow from the same.
It is, of course, understood that-the carriage .may be moved either manually or through mechanical means, this being optional.
When the tube 25 is compressed under the action of the rollers I6 and I'I, a suction is set up in the tube so that the latter operates as an evacuating medium for evacuation within the bottle or the like 39 when the same is placed in position to be filled through the head 28 of the machine.
The carriage after evacuation operation is returned to normal position next to its end adjacent to the head 28 of the machine. On the unsealing of the bottle or the like 39 from the head 28 of the machine, the vacuum is broken and by the gear I9 meshing with the rack 20 there will be no pulling upon the tube 25 when' the carriage is in motion.'
What is claimed is:
1. Amachine of the character described comprising a stand, a carriage movably tted in said stand, presser rollers arranged in the carriage, a rack gear rotatable with one of the presser rollers, a'stationary rack in the stand and meshing with said rack gear, a compressible tube supported within the stand and trained between the rollers to be compressed thereby for effecting a suction interiorly of said tube, and a head supported by the stand and having independent lling and suction passages, the suction passage being in communication with the compressible tube.
2. A machine of the character described comprising a stand, a carriage movably fitted in said stand, presser rollers arranged in the carriage, a rack gear rotatable with one of the presser rollers, a stationary rack in the stand and meshing with sai-d rack gear, a compressible tube supported within the stand and trained between the rollers to be compressed thereby for effecting a suction interiorly of said tube, a head supported by the stand and having independent filling and suction passages, the suction passage being in communication with the compressible tube, and a supply conduit leading to the filling passage in said head.
3. A machine of the character described comprising a stand, a carriage movably tted in said stand, presser rollers arranged in the carriage,
a rack gear rotatable with one of the presser rollers, a stationary rack in the stand and meshing with said rack gear, a compressible tube supported within the stand and trained between the rollers to be compressed thereby for effecting a suction interiorly of said tube, a head supported by the stand and having independent filling and suction passages, the suction passage being in communication with the compressible tube, a'supply conduit leading to the filling passage in said head, and means adjustably arranged Vin the stand for limiting the movement of the carriage in one direction.. 1
