PATENT OFFICE TRANSPORTATION LINE DOUBLE SERVICE ENVELOPE REPEATER Allen M. Shank, Burlington, Iowa Application November 5, 1936, Serial No. 109,379
3 Claims.
, This invention relates to a transportation line double service envelope repeater.
It is primarily aimed to provide a novel structure whereby an envelope which is practically standardvwith all railroad companies for railread business can be used twice as often, and particularly after all blanks of one side have been used, theenvelope is convertible to arrange whereby forty-eight blanks are provided, and
means are also provided whereby the envelope may assume envelope form with either blanks on the exterior.
The more specific objects and advantages will become apparent from a consideration of the description following taken in connection with the accompanying drawing illustrating an operative embodiment.
Referring specifically to the drawing,
Figure 1. is a plan or elevation of the service envelope;
Figure 2 is a plan view thereof in blankform;
Figure 3 is a plan view of the envelope of Figure 1 having the parts reversed, and
Figure 4 is a plan view of the reversed side of the blank of Figure 2.
Referring specifically to the drawing wherein like reference characters designate like or similar parts,- the opposite sides of the blank are shown in Figures 2 and 4. Such blank has .a main panel III on both sides of which there is indicia at H providing spaces preferably num-- bered as shown from one to twenty-four in which names and places may be written. The envelope is of paper or the equivalent having a rear flap l2 and end flaps l3, respectively foldable. on the lines l4 and I5. It also has a closure flap l6, foldable along the line H.
On opposite faces of the flaps i3, adjacent the side edge. adhesive I8 is applied. As a result, the flaps I 3 may be folded fiat against the flap l2 and the adhesive l8'of one side or face of the flaps 13 through the aid of water, united to be closed by folding and insertion of the closure flap l6 into the interior of such envelope.
In the condition mentioned, the envelope of I Figure 1 is used until all of the entries or blanks have been used. Thereupon, the previously adhered flaps l2 and I3, are severed at the'lines of adherence of the engaged adhesive, the paper or material being sufiiciently strong to permit this severance without mutilation or tearing of the envelope. Thereupon, the envelope is reversely folded and the previously unused adhesive I8 is moistened and adhered tothe flap l2, the inner, or other face of the main wall l0 being thus exposed as in Figure 3 for use of the various blanks thereof, the closure flap. l6 being adapted for reverse folding and extension into the interior of the envelope. 7
As a result of the construction described, the envelope will give double service.
I claim as my invention:
1. A structure of the class described having a main wall, flaps in foldable relation therewith and adhered together to form an envelope, .certain of said flaps containing adhesive on' the outer surface thereof at zones directly opposite the zones of adhesion, the structure being of a material permitting separation of adhering flaps without mutilation, whereby the envelope after separation of the flaps may be reversely folded and adhered. I
2. A structure of the class described having a main wall, flaps in foldable relation therewith and adhered together to form an envelope, cer tain of. said flaps containing adhesive on the outer surface thereof at zones directly opposite the zones of adhesion, the structure being of a material permitting separation of adhering flaps without mutilation, whereby the envelope after separation of the flaps may be reversely folded and adhered, said wall having entry indicia on both faces thereof.
3. A structureof the class described having a main wall, flaps in foldable relation therewith and adhered together to form an envelope, cer- 'tain of said flaps containing adhesive on the outer surface thereof at zones directly opposite the zones of adhesion,'the structure being of a material permitting separation of adhering flaps without mutilation, whereby the envelope after separation of the flaps may be reversely folded and adhered, said wall having entry indicia on both faces thereoffanda closure wall connected to the main wall and adapted to be extended interiorly of the envelope in each form.
