The present invention discloses a novel coloring poster and playmat with outline drawn of roads and various types of buildings. The assembly provides complete configuration, acts as a playmat, allows child to color and play simultaneously.

  • BACKGROUND Field of the Invention
  • The invention is in the field of activities for children and particularly in the field of coloring mat that contain outline areas to be colored by a child and can be used as a play mat.
  • Description of the Related Art
  • Coloring books include outline drawings having areas within the outline drawings for a child to fill in with color, generally by use of a coloring instrument such as a crayon, marker, or colored pencil. Once colored, the coloring done is permanent and the child cannot recolor a particular drawing or portion thereof that has already been colored. Further, a child is completely on his or her own in selecting appropriate colors to use in coloring a particular drawing, and if a small child without experience with the thing pictured, the child may have no idea of an appropriate color to use for a particular thing pictured.
  • Toy and department stores commonly sell consumers play and activity mats for their children's entertainment and pleasure. Such play mats usually have a colorful base, attached or removable toys and come with or without surrounding walls. Originally these play and activity mats were provided as a source of learning and entertainment for infants.
  • Various items, such as place mats, have been made of plastic material, or of paper which is laminated with plastic material, to provide a plastic surface which can be colored with crayons and the crayon coloring later wiped or washed off so the item can be colored multiple times.
  • U.S. Pat. No. 3,777,418 shows a lunch box with plastic laminated sides which provide a smooth plastic surface which can be colored, wiped clean, and recolored. U.S. Pat. No. 3,783,553 shows a doll with a face of a semi-rigid vinyl material that can accept crayon markings which can later be erased so the face can be changed as desired by the owner. U.S. Pat. No. 5,547,198 shows a game with a board having a plastic like surface upon which a player can color as directed during play of the game. The board is wiped clean at the end of a game so the game can be played over and over as desired.
  • U.S. Pat. No. 5,213,507 shows a picture book for children with story text on a page or portion of a page next to a picture relating to the text. The idea is that the text relates to the picture and the child develops skills in reading the text, assembling the puzzle, and in coloring the puzzle.
  • There are multiple solutions that have been presented in prior art in regarding 2 in 1 coloring poster and playmat which aim on providing luxury to users while added comfort. However, the utility of these systems has not been seen in advance form and for the above discussed needs. Looking at the prior art and market requirements, the need exists for an advancement that allows coloring poster and playmat. The proposed invention introduces a poster plus playmat which provides coloring poster has road drawings or game drawings where a child can color on and play with as well.
  • None of the previous inventions and patents, taken either singly or in combination, is seen to describe the instant invention as claimed. Hence, the inventor of the present invention proposes to resolve and surmount existent technical difficulties to eliminate the aforementioned shortcomings of prior art.
  • SUMMARY
  • In light of the disadvantages of the prior art, the following summary is provided to facilitate an understanding of some of the innovative features unique to the present invention and is not intended to be a full description. A full appreciation of the various aspects of the invention can be gained by taking the entire specification, claims, drawings, and abstract as a whole.
  • It is therefore an object of this invention to provide a new and improved form of 2 in 1 coloring poster and playmat.
  • It is another object to provide an improved coloring poster that doubles as a play mat.
  • It is also the objective of invention to provide coloring poster, which has road drawings or game drawings where a child can color on and play with as well.
  • It is a further object of the present invention to provide an improved coloring poster and playmat that is relatively inexpensive to manufacture.
  • It is a still further object of the present invention to provide an improved poster, which is made out of paper, fabric or plastic and each has outline designs or graphics to be colored in and used with crayons, markers, paint and such.
  • According to another aspect, it is also the objective of the invention to provide a poster where user can play on it with cars or other game components.
  • It is also the objective of the invention to provide an assembly which is of durable configuration made of high-quality material.
  • Other aspects, advantages and novel features of the present invention will become apparent from the detailed description of the invention when considered in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.

  • Detailed descriptions of the preferred embodiment are provided herein. It is to be understood, however, that the present invention may be embodied in various forms. Therefore, specific details disclosed herein are not to be interpreted as limiting, but rather as a basis for the claims and as a representative basis for teaching one skilled in the art to employ the present invention in virtually any appropriately detailed system, structure or manner.
  • The terminology used herein is for the purpose of describing particular embodiments only and is not intended to be limiting of the invention. As used herein, the term “and/or” includes any and all combinations of one or more of the associated listed items. As used herein, the singular forms “a,” “an,” and “the” are intended to include the plural forms as well as the singular forms, unless the context clearly indicates otherwise. It will be further understood that the terms “comprises” and/or “comprising,” when used in this specification, specify the presence of stated features, steps, operations, elements, and/or components, but do not preclude the presence or addition of one or more other features, steps, operations, elements, components, and/or groups thereof.
  • The present invention is directed to provides a 2 in 1 coloring poster and play mat which provides multiple advantages in a single assembly.
  • According to the invention, an item to be colored, such as a coloring poster, is made of or includes a flexible paper-like material on which crayon or colors can be used. In most embodiments, such item includes a permanent outline drawing to be colored and a similar outline drawing with colors permanently printed thereon so as not to be erasable to serve as a guide to show an appropriate way to color the outline drawing. With a poster or like item, the similar outlined drawing may be printed on one side of the item and the outlined drawing to be colored on the same side.
  • While in some cases color selection is an exercise in artistic development, for most children, looking at a drawing and learning appropriate colors for particular items with which they have had little or no experience is itself an educational experience. Also, an indication of the use of different colors for different areas and that such colors are applied only within certain outlined areas may be an important learning exercise and help teach coloring techniques and skills.
  • The coloring poster of the invention is a long-lasting item in that the synthetic paper used is very durable and will stand up to hard use. It will also allow child to play on it with cars and will be used as a playmat.
  • While a specific embodiment has been shown and described, many variations are possible. With time, additional features may be employed. The particular shape or configuration of the platform or the interior configuration may be changed to suit the system or equipment with which it is used.
  • Having described the invention in detail, those skilled in the art will appreciate that modifications may be made to the invention without departing from its spirit. Therefore, it is not intended that the scope of the invention be limited to the specific embodiment illustrated and described. Rather, it is intended that the scope of this invention be determined by the appended claims and their equivalents.

1: A coloring poster and playmat assembly wherein:
As per claim 1, the coloring poster is made out of paper, fabric or plastic;
As per claim 1, the coloring poster doubles as a play mat; and,
As per claim 1, the coloring poster has road drawings or game drawings where a child can color on and play.
