Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • The following includes information that may be useful in understanding the present disclosure. It is not an admission that any of the information provided herein is prior art nor material to the presently described or claimed inventions, nor that any publication or document that is specifically or implicitly referenced is prior art.
  • 1. FIELD OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention relates generally to the field of apparel and more specifically relates to shields or protectors.
  • 2. DESCRIPTION OF RELATED ART
  • Painters, construction workers, carpenter and other field workers, as well as production line workers are in contact, on a daily basis, with chemicals, paint and other substances that may ruin their clothes. Often times, these substances can contain chemicals that can irritate the skin. Most of the times, however, it is very inconvenient to have paint, caulk, mortar, adhesives, grease or other substances on their hands and there is a need to wipe the hands regularly. Many workers simply wipe their hands on the front of their pants in the region of the thigh or sides of the thighs. This action ruins the pants. A suitable solution is desired and proposed.
  • U.S. Pub. No. 2006/0010576 to Michael Tse relates to a removable garment shield. The described removable garment shield includes a removable garment patch which protects the thigh portion of a pants leg. The patch has an inner surface which is secured to the thigh portion of pants, and an outer surface which provides a location that the wearer can wipe with the wearer's hands. The wearer can remove the garment patch prior to leaving the work site. The garment patch can be a single patch, or alternatively, it can be distributed in bulk quantities, such as multiple patches attached together on a roll of patches. The garment patch can be secured to the thigh portion of the pants prior to the initiation of work. The garment patch should be secured to the thigh portion of the pants prior to beginning work activities. At the end of work activities, or at the wearer's selection, the patch can be removed. Alternative embodiments provide discrete patches or rolls of patches which can be dispensed as needed.
  • BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • In view of the foregoing disadvantages inherent in the known apparel art, the present disclosure provides a novel leg wrap garment protector system. The general purpose of the present disclosure, which will be described subsequently in greater detail, is to provide a disposable product used to help keep clothes from getting dirty especially tradesman's clothing from getting dirty (becoming soiled) on a jobsite.
  • A leg wrap garment protector system is disclosed herein. The leg wrap garment protector system includes a leg wrap including a body having a first-side having a first-fastener, and a second-fastener, and a second-side. The body comprises a generally rectangular profile having the first-side and the second-side opposing one another and creating a continuous sheet. The first-fastener and the second-fastener are configured on the first-side and oppose one another on opposite ends of the body. The body is configured to encircle about a leg of a user in a cylindrical form. The first-fastener is secured to a garment and the second-fastener secures to the second-side when wrapped around a thigh portion of the leg of the user. The leg wrap provides a removeable protective barrier for the user's garment. The device prevents work clothes from getting dirty and provides a place to easily wipe hands clean instead of damaging clothing.
  • According to another embodiment, a method of protecting garments using a leg wrap garment protector system is also disclosed herein. The method of protecting garments using a leg wrap garment protector system includes providing a leg wrap including a body, a first-side having a first-fastener, and a second-fastener, and a second-side; securing the first-fastener to a garment; wrapping the body around a leg of a user; securing the second-fastener to the second-side; removing the leg wrap; and disposing of the leg wrap.
  • For purposes of summarizing the invention, certain aspects, advantages, and novel features of the invention have been described herein. It is to be understood that not necessarily all such advantages may be achieved in accordance with any one particular embodiment of the invention. Thus, the invention may be embodied or carried out in a manner that achieves or optimizes one advantage or group of advantages as taught herein without necessarily achieving other advantages as may be taught or suggested herein. • As discussed above, embodiments of the present disclosure relate to apparel and more particularly to a leg wrap garment protector system as used to improve the protection of garments.
  • Generally, the leg wrap system is used as a tool to prevent pants and other clothing from getting dirty and/or soiled while performing work such as painting, tile setting (cement), caulking, and other work that normally would stain or damage garments, such as grease. This will help the preservation of work clothes and prevent undue ‘wear and tear’. The leg wrap system includes a leg wrap configured to be easily installed on a leg as needed and then removed and thrown into the garbage when done. The leg wrap may be provided in a variety of colors such as white, black, tan, denim, and other colors. The leg wrap may also be environmentally friendly and biodegradable.
  • Referring now more specifically to the drawings by numerals of reference, there is shown in FIGS. 1-4, various views of a leg wrap garment protector system 100. FIG. 1 shows a leg wrap garment protector system 100 during an ‘in-use’ condition 150, according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. As illustrated, the leg wrap garment protector system 100 may include a leg wrap 110 including a body 120 having a first-side 130 having a first-fastener 132, and a second-fastener 136, and a second-side 140. The body 120 comprises a generally rectangular profile having the first-side 130 and the second-side 140 opposing one another and creating a continuous sheet. The first-fastener 132 and the second-fastener 136 are configured on the first-side 130 and oppose one another on opposite ends of the body 120. The body 120 is configured to encircle about a leg 10 of a user in a cylindrical form. The first-fastener 132 is secured to a garment and the second-fastener 136 secures to the second-side 140 when wrapped around the leg 10 of the user. The leg wrap 110 provides a removeable protective barrier for the garment.
  • FIG. 2 shows a perspective view of the leg wrap garment protector system 100 of FIG. 1, according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. As above, the leg wrap garment protector system 100 may include the leg wrap 110 including the body 120 having the first-side 130 with the first-fastener 132 and the second-fastener 136, and a second-side 140. The first-fastener 132 and the second-fastener 136 are generally rectangular. The first-fastener 132 and the second-fastener 136 comprise adhesive. Covers may be included to conceal the adhesive of the first-fastener 132 and the second-fastener 136 before use. The first-fastener 132 is configured to adhere to the garment. The second-fastener 136 is configured to adhere to the second-side 140 when wrapped around the leg 10 of the user. The second-fastener 136 prevents movement of the leg wrap 110 when secured to the garment during an in-use condition. The first-fastener 132 and the second-fastener 136 are positioned at end portions 122 of the body 120 along a width of the body 120.
  • Referring now to FIG. 3-4 showing perspective views of the leg wrap garment protector system 100 of FIG. 1, according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. As above, the leg wrap garment protector system 100 may include the leg wrap 110 including the body 120 to be secured to a thigh-portion of the leg 10 of the user. In a preferred embodiment, the body 120 has a width of approximately 12 inches and a length of approximately 18 to 32 inches (other sizes/lengths, etc., may apply). The leg wrap garment protector system 100 prevents work garments from getting dirty and provides a place for a user to easily wipe your hands clean instead of damaging clothing. The body 120 is flexible and comprises a fabric. The fabric is semi-absorbent and disposable. The leg wrap 110 is preferably provided as a one-size-fits-all. The user may adjust the size and secure the leg wrap 110 appropriately using the first-fastener 132 and the second-fastener 136.
  • FIG. 5 is a flow diagram illustrating a method for protecting garments 500 using a leg wrap garment protector system 100, according to an embodiment of the present disclosure.
