- The present invention, while appropriate for use by any age or gender demographic, may be found to be most appreciated by and useful to an older, “senior” demographic. This would include, but not be limited to, people who, as they age, experience some loss of mobility in their upper bodies. This loss of mobility may be due to a number of reasons, from arthritis to bursitis, from strained muscles to ordinary recreational sports injuries. The present invention allows users to wash their backs as well as other parts of their bodies such as arms, sides and other areas that are able to come in contact with the hands-free body scrubbing device that may otherwise be difficult or impossible to access due to physiological constraints.
- An object of the present invention is a hands-free body scrubbing device comprising a base, a plurality of bristles, and an attachment means for removably attaching the back scrubbing device to a wall. The base comprises a front side and a back side. The plurality of bristles extending from the front side. The means for attaching extend from the back side.
- In another object of the present invention, the hands-free body scrubbing device further comprises a plurality of hemispherical projections projecting from the front side.
- In yet another object of the present invention, the plurality of bristles and the plurality of hemispherical projections are configured in alternating rows.
- In another object of the present invention, the attachment means comprises a plurality of suction cups.
- In yet another object of the present invention, the attachment means comprises a plurality of hook and loop fasteners.
- In another object of the present invention, the attachment means comprises a combination of a plurality of suction cups and a plurality of hook and loop fasteners.
- In yet another object of the present invention, the plurality of bristles are made of nylon.
- The advantages and features of the present invention will be better understood as the following description is read in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, wherein:
-
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of an embodiment of the present invention. -
FIG. 2 is a top view of an embodiment of the present invention. -
FIG. 3 is a side view of an embodiment of the present invention. -
FIG. 4 is a top view of an embodiment of the present invention. -
FIG. 5 is a top view of an embodiment of the present invention. -
FIG. 6 is a side view of an embodiment of the present invention. - For clarity purposes, all reference numerals may not be included in every figure.
- As illustrated in
FIGS. 1-6 , an embodiment of the present invention is a hands-freebody scrubbing device 100 comprising abase 110, a plurality ofbristles 120, and an attachment means 130 for removably attaching the hands-freebody scrubbing device 100 to a wall. Thebase 100 comprises afront side 112 and aback side 114. The plurality of bristles extend from thefront side 112. The attachment means 130 for removably attaching the hands-freebody scrubbing device 100 to a wall extend from theback side 114. The term “wall” includes, but is not limited to walls, doors, shower stall walls, floor, and any suitable surface known to one of ordinary skill in the art. - In another embodiment, as shown in
FIGS. 4-6 , the hands-freebody scrubbing device 100 may further comprise a plurality ofhemispherical projections 140 projecting from thefront side 112. - In another embodiment of the present invention, as illustrated in
FIG. 5 , the plurality ofbristles 120 and the plurality ofhemispherical projections 140 are configured in alternating rows. The illustrated embodiment includes a horizontal row ofbristles 120, followed by a horizontal row ofhemispherical projections 140, followed by a second horizontal row ofbristles 120, followed by a second horizontal row ofhemispherical projections 140, followed by a third horizontal row ofbristles 120, followed by a third horizontal row ofhemispherical projections 140, and followed by a fourth horizontal row ofbristles 120. As this figure is for exemplary purposes and is non-limiting, the present invention encompasses embodiments with other numbers of alternating rows ofbristles 120 andhemispherical projections 140. - As shown in
FIGS. 1, 3, and 6 , the attachment means 130 may comprise a plurality of suction cups. In other embodiments, the attachment means 130 may comprise a plurality of hook and loop fasteners, In other embodiments, the attachment means 130 may comprise a combination of a plurality of suction cups and a plurality of hook and loop fasteners. - In some embodiments of the present invention, the
bristles 120 may be made of nylon. The nylon allows any substance that is scrubbed, such as dead or flaky skin or dirt, to be easily washed off thebristles 120. - The hands-free
body scrubbing device 100 may be used to clean, exfoliate the user's skin and pores of the user's back or any other body part. The hands-freebody scrubbing device 100 also promotes healthy skin by stimulating the circulation in the epidermis. For example, the hands-freebody scrubbing device 100 may be mounted to a shower wall, which allows the user to scrub her back with a slight turn of her hips while making contact with the hands-freebody scrubbing device 100. Another way to use the hands-freebody scrubbing device 100 is by mounting it to the floor or the bottom of the bathtub and rubbing the user's feet on the hands-freebody scrubbing device 100. - The attachment means 130 allow the the hands-free
body scrubbing device 100 to be removably attached to the wall. Advantageously, the hands-freebody scrubbing device 100 may be used by different users or for different body parts by removing the hands-freebody scrubbing device 100 and attaching it to a different location. - The
bristles 120 and thehemispherical projections 140 may provide a therapeutic sensation and may increase blood flow and circulation to the contact area. Furthermore, if the hands-freebody scrubbing device 100 is utilized in the shower, the water flow may increase the circulatory and cleansing effects of the hands-freebody scrubbing device 100. - While the invention has been described with reference to exemplary embodiments, it will be understood by those skilled in the art that various changes, omissions, and/or additions may be made and equivalents may be substituted for elements thereof without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention. In addition, many modifications may be made to adapt a particular situation or material to the teachings of the invention without departing from the scope thereof. Therefore, it is intended that the invention not be limited to the particular embodiments disclosed as the best mode contemplated for carrying out this invention, but that the invention will include all embodiments falling within the scope of the appended claims, Moreover, unless specifically stated any use of the terms first, second, etc. do not denote any order or importance, but rather the terms first, second, etc. are used to distinguish one element from another.
