- (1) Field of Invention
- The present invention relates to eyelash extensions and, more particularly, to eyelash extensions having a plurality of lashes with different distal tips.
- (2) Description of Related Art
- Beauty products have long been known in the art. Users, women in particular, have sought a variety of beauty products to enhance their aesthetic appearance. For example, blush is often used to add color to a woman's cheeks. As another example, lipstick is traditionally used to add a variety of colors and features to a user's lips. To enhance the appearance of a user's eyelashes, some eyelash technicians apply eyelash extensions to a user's natural lashes. Traditional eyelash extensions are typically uniform, such that they all have common characteristics and distal tips.
- For example and as shown in
FIGS. 1A through 1D , a variety of synthetic eyelash extensions have been devised that are formed of a plurality of filaments that are adhered to one another to form branched eyelash extensions. However, in the prior art, the distal tips are all formed in a similar manner. For example,FIG. 1A illustrates an eyelash extension with two branches. Notably, thedistal tips 100 are all cut into blunt ends. Similarly, 1B illustrates an eyelash extension with three branches. As was the case above, thedistal tips 100 are all cut into blunt ends.FIG. 1C and 1D illustrate another similar scenario, showing two and three branched eyelash extensions, respectively. Notably and as shown inFIG. 1C and 1D , thedistal tips 100 are all tapered to a point. In other words, thedistal tips 100 on the various filaments forming any given eyelash extension are similarly formed. - Therefore, there is a continuing need for eyelash extensions that include multiple lashes or filaments with differently shaped distal tips.
- The present invention relates to eyelash extensions and, more particularly, to eyelash extensions having a plurality of lashes with different distal tips. The eyelash extension is formed of at least two filaments having a common proximal end and distinct distal tips, such that the distal tips are different from one another in shape, color, thickness or curve.
- In one aspect, a first filament ends in a shape selected from a group consisting of a tapered distal tip, a tapered cut distal tip, and a blunt distal tip.
- In another aspect, a second filament ends in a shape selected from a group consisting of a tapered distal tip, a tapered cut distal tip, and a blunt distal tip.
- Finally, as can be appreciated by one in the art, the present invention also comprises a method for forming and using the invention described herein.
- The objects, features and advantages of the present invention will be apparent from the following detailed descriptions of the various aspects of the invention in conjunction with reference to the following drawings, where:
-

However, it will be apparent to one skilled in the art that the present invention may be practiced without necessarily being limited to these specific details. In other instances, well-known structures and devices are shown in block diagram form, rather than in detail, in order to avoid obscuring the present invention.

Instead, they are used to reflect relative locations and/or directions between various portions of an object.
- The present invention relates to eyelash extensions and, more particularly, to eyelash extensions having a plurality of lashes (filaments) with different distal tips. As shown in
FIGS. 1A through 1D , eyelash extensions of the prior art that include multiple single lashes fused with one another havedistal tips 100 that are shaped the same as one another. This is to be contrasted with the present invention, as shown inFIGS. 2A through 2D , which depictseyelash extensions 200 where at least two filaments 202 (or more) are connected with one another at a proximal end 201 and have at least two distinct distal tips that are different than one another. - For example,
FIG. 2A illustrates abranched eyelash extension 200 having twofilaments 202. One of thefilaments 202 includes a tapereddistal tip 204 that is tapered to a point, whereas theother filament 202 includes a bluntdistal tip 206 that is lat or cut as a blunt end. - As another example,
FIG. 28 illustrates abranched eyelash extension 200 having twofilaments 202. In this aspect, one of thefilaments 202 includes a tapered cutdistal tip 208, where thefilament 202 tapers toward its distal end and then is cut into a blunt tip. Theother filament 202 includes a bluntdistal tip 206 that is flat or cut as a blunt end. - As yet another example,
FIG. 2C illustrates abranched eyelash extension 200 having twofilaments 202. In this aspect, one of thefilaments 202 includes a tapereddistal tip 204 that is tapered to a point, whereas theother filament 202 includes a tapered cutdistal tip 208, where thefilament 202 tapers toward its distal end and then is cut into a blunt tip. - Another example is illustrated in
FIG. 2D , which illustrates abranched eyelash extension 200 having fourfilaments 202. In this aspect, one of thefilaments 202 includes a tapereddistal tip 204 that is tapered to a point, whereas theother filament 202 includes a tapered cutdistal tip 208, and twoother filaments 202 include a bluntdistal tips 206. - Another example is illustrated in
FIG. 2E , which illustrates abranched eyelash extension 200 having threefilaments 202. In this aspect, one of thefilaments 202 includes a tapereddistal tip 204 that is tapered to a point. However, at least one of theother filaments 202 includes a distal tip that dissimilar. For example, one of thefilaments 202 can be formed to have a square shapeddistal tip 210, while theother filament 202 is formed to have a round shapeddistal tip 212. Thus, it should be understood that the distal tips can be formed in any desired shape. The shapes in some cases can be formed during initial formation of thefilaments 202 through molding or any other suitable technique, or they can be formed by modifying thefilaments 202, such as by cutting, gluing or otherwise modifying the originally formed shape. As a non-limiting example, the tapered cutdistal tip 208 can be formed by cutting what was originally a tapereddistal tip 204, or formed according to the process as described and depicted in U.S. Non-Provisional Application Ser. No. 13/851,714 regarding the tapered portion. As yet another non-limiting example, the square or round shapes can be originally molded or formed as add-ons that are glued or melted onto tapered distal tips 204 (or any other shaped distal tip). - Thus and as can be appreciated by those skilled in the art, there are any number of ways of forming the
eyelash extensions 200. Notably and as applicable to the present invention, theeyelash extensions 200 are formed such that they include at least two filaments 202 (or more) that are connected to one another at any location (e.g., at a proximal end forming a branch (as shown), or along the length of the filaments) and that at least two of thefilaments 202 have distal tips that are dissimilar from one another in shape, color, thickness or curve. - The
filaments 202 can be connected with one another using any technique, such as being conned together or separately formed and fused with one another, via, for example, glue, melting, etc. - The filaments can be formed in any number, shape, thickness, color, curve, or material so long as at least two of the distal tips are different from one another, including shapes, color, curves, thickness, features, etc. As a non-limiting example, some of the tips can be tapered, blunt (not tapered), tapered to a blunt cut, or with balls or other shapely features (e.g., hall, square, or any other shape), that can be formed or attached with the distal tips.
