Description
- This application claims priority from U.S. Design Patent Application No. 29/468,523, filed on Oct. 1, 2013, titled, “Cover up Towel” the content of which is incorporated herein by reference.
- This invention related to new and useful improvements in a novel towel which allows the wearer to be hands free while maintaining full coverage of the body.
- After getting wet from bath, shower, pool, or other water related activity people use towels to not only dry themselves off, but also for privacy or to maintain warmth of their bodies as much as they can while the drying process takes place.
- In U.S. Patent Application 0090106873 Towel Wrap overcomes the disadvantages and limitations about easily slipping or falling but it doesn't maintain warmth enough for the wearers because it does not cover their shoulders. In addition, robes, wrap towels, wearable towels, tote towels, cape towels and other modifications of towels are well known but generally these modifications are difficult to use, incapable of being removed quickly.
- The present invention provides a novel, easy to manufacture, and easy to use towel to address the current need.
- It is the object of the present invention to overcome the disadvantages and limitation of prior towel wraps allowing people maintain warmth of their full bodies.
- It is another object of the present invention to provide a novel towel that is easily covered up and fixed to the body while allowing the wearer full use of their hands.
- It is still another object of the present invention to provide a towel cover up which is easy to use, capable of being removed quickly, and economic to manufacture.
- It is a further object of the present invention to provide the towel comprising a substantially planer rectangular main body having a hem at longitudinal top edge and having a cord mounted on said hem for contracting the same to form a neck opening of said towel.
- The hem can be formed by a portion of the longitudinal top edge is doubled upon itself and held in position by means of stitches through which the cord is passed. Alternatively the hem can be formed by a long thin rectangular piece of fabric is attached at longitudinal top edge by means of stitches.
- Still further it is proposed to provide a cord that is made of a durable fabric material or other material and having the same length with longitudinal edge of towel. The cord has a knot or an ornamental tassel or the like at its both ends thereof to prevent it from being pulled through the hem.
- The towel may be formed of any acceptable material, including but not limited to terrycloth, cotton or wetsuit materials.
- In another embodiment the towel can have a variety of enhancements for decorative purposes, including but not limited to monograms, different patterned fabrics, designs, jewels, pockets, hoods and the like.
- The novel features which are considered as characteristic of the invention are set forth in particular in the appended claims. Many substitutions, modifications, additions and/or rearrangements may be made within the scope of the invention without departing from the spirit thereof, and the invention includes all such substitutions, modifications, additions and/or rearrangements.
-
FIG. 1 is a plan view of the towel cover up of the present invention. -
FIG. 2 is an enlarged top plan view, showing the neck in its contracted position. -
FIG. 3 is an enlarged sectional view on the line 4-4 ofFIG. 1 . -
FIG. 4 is a front perspective view thereof as it would normally appear when worn by a person. -
FIG. 5 is a rear perspective view thereof as it would normally appear when worn by a person. -
FIG. 6 is a side perspective view thereof as it would normally appear when worn by a person. - In
FIG. 1 the towel cover up 10 includes a rectangular sheet of textile material which is adapted to encircle one's body and has ahem 14 at thelongitudinal top edge 12 adapted to form the neck opening. The dimensions oftowel 10 can vary depending on the preference of fit for the person covering up the towel and it can be used for infants to adults. - In
FIG. 2-3 a portion of thelongitudinal top edge 12 is doubled upon itself and held in position by mean ofstitches 15 for forming ahem 14 through which thecord 13 is passed. Alternatively, the saidhem 14 can be formed by a long thin rectangular piece of fabric attached at thelongitudinal top edge 12 oftowel 10 by mean ofstitches 15. - The ends of
hem 14 are adapted to be pushed together towards the center of thecord 13 to a desired position which will permit said hem 14 to freely pass around one's neck to permit the ends of thecord 13 to be tied together forming abow knot 16 as shown inFIG. 4 andFIG. 6 for holding hem 14 in its contracted position. -
FIG. 1-6 thecord 13 is made of a durable fabric material or other materials and has the same length with thelong side 12 oftowel 10. Thecord 13 has a knot or an ornamental tassel or the like 17, 18 at its both ends thereof to prevent it from being pulled throughhem 14. -
