Abstract
The Combination Baseball Cap Sweat Protector and Crown Shaper has a first component for absorbing perspiration from the users skin and the second component holds the first component in place and helps to maintain the original front shape of the crown of the sports cap. The first component is bonded to the front side of the second component flexible Polymer material with moisture absorbing cool wicking fabric the same fabric used in sports clothes to help keep athletes cool, dry and feels good to the skin and is washable. The second component is a flexible Polymer plastic material that is centered within the interior front half of the front of the crown and extends around both sides of the sports cap inner rim and is attached with industrial Velcro so it can be removed when required.

- The present invention relates to wearing a sports cap baseball-type either for a sporting activity or just keeping the sun out of your eyes. I purchased a new golf sports cap baseball-type and after the first 9 holes the perspiration from my forehead leaked through my sports cap front crown and bill. From that day I said I was going to design a sports cap baseball-type protector, today that sports cap baseball-type protector is called The Sports Cap Saver tm. After many designs and fabric choices I came up with a flexible Polymer material, which supports the front crown while the moisture cool wicking fabric absorbs perspiration. I fabricated many prototypes and started giving them away in support of learning how they worked. I received positive feedback from everyone. I could not find a combination sports cap baseball-type sweat protector and front crown shaper with this design, which protects the wearer's sports cap baseball-type from perspiration and keeping the original front crown shape and keeping the sports cap baseball-type looking as good as new.
- The present invention provides baseball caps the combination of protection from perspiration and supports and protects the front crown portion. More specifically, the Combination Sports Cap Baseball-type Sweat Protector and Front Crown Shaper assembly comprises of two materials. A flexible Polymer plastic shaped to the interior of the front crown portion and extends around the interior rim of the baseball cap. Moisture absorbing cool wicking fabric is attached to the flexible polymer plastic to absorb perspiration. In addition three pieces of Velcro are attached evenly spaced to one side of the flexible polymer plastic and are later attached to the inner rim of the baseball sports caps for final installation.

FIG. 3 is a view showing the combination sports cap baseball-type sweat protector and crown Shaper laid flat. -
FIG. 4 is a photograph of the combination sports cap baseball-type sweat protector and front crown shaper in its cap supporting position. - The present invention is designed for use with a standard baseball-type cap interior side as illustrated in
FIGS. 1 and 3 . The combination sports cap baseball-type sweat protector and crown shaper is illustrated inFIG. 2 . The baseball cap interior side is referenced bynumeral 10. The baseball cap bill is referenced bynumeral 11. The combination sports cap baseball-type sweat protector and crown shaper installed is referenced bynumeral 12. The baseball cap rim is referenced bynumeral 13. The Velcro is attached referenced bynumeral 14. The crown is referenced bynumeral 15. The combination sports cap baseball-type sweat protector and crown shaper is not limited and can be used with all styles of baseball-type caps. The combination sports cap baseball-type sweat protector andcrown shaper 12 dimensions are not limited to length around therim 13 and thickness of 0.015″-0.020″of 12. The installation of Velcro 14 is not limited to location, number, type or size.
Claims (7)
1. The first component 1 a sweat protector absorbing perspiration from the Forehead-using moisture absorbing cool wicking fabric attached to component 2 Polymer material. The moisture absorbing cool wicking fabric removes perspiration from the skin and keeps it locked into the fabric preventing perspiration from absorbing through the front crown and rim of the sports cap baseball-type showing up on the exterior side. Component 1 moisture absorbing cool wicking fabric is attached to only front side, skin side of component 2 where the users skin perspiration can be absorbed.
2. Sweatband defined in claim 1 is selected from a group of moisture absorbing cool wicking fabrics.
3. The fabric used in claim 1 is not waterproof but water absorbent.
4. The Combination Sports Cap Sweat Protector and Shaper is can be used in all sports caps baseball caps having a crown portion with an inner rim band and bill.
5. The Combination Sports Cap Sweat Protector and Shaper can be used temporary or stitched in place for a permanent installation.
6. Component 2 as defined in claim 1 is made from a Polymer flexible plastic material designed to fit next to the interior of the crown portion down to the crown and brim interface and around both sides of the interior rim.
7. As defined in claim 6 the upper portion of the Sports Cap baseball-type Sweat Protector and Shaper keeps the original shape of the crown while the sweat protector fabric absorbs perspiration from penetrating through the crown and bill.
