Abstract

A gag gift item includes a generally hollow base member having each of a predetermined shape and a predetermined size and formed from a first pre-selected material. A lid member, having each of a second predetermined shape and a second predetermined size and formed from a second predetermined material is hingedly attached to the base member. A closure mechanism having a first portion attached to the base member and a second portion attached to the lid member is provided for maintaining such lid member in a closed position when the gift item is not in use. Finally, there is a plurality of pre-selected items useful in bathroom emergencies disposed within the generally hollow base member.

Description

    CROSS REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION
  • This patent application is related to and claims priority from U.S. Provisional Patent Application Ser. No. 60/944,308 filed Jun. 15, 2007.
  • FIELD OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention relates, in general, to gifts and, more particularly, this invention relates to a gag gift made into a kit containing a number of items which can be quite useful in unexpected bathroom type emergencies.
  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • Prior to the conception and development of the present invention, as is generally well known in the prior art, trying to find a unique and personal gift is quite difficult. This is particularly true with respect to people who seem to have everything.
  • It is also well known that there are a number of gag type gifts available on the market today. Some of these gag type gifts tend to upset certain people and are, therefore, not suitable. Additionally, these prior art gag type gifts do not have any useful purpose associated with them. Many of these gag type gifts are intended for the aging, balding people and/or engaged.
  • Further, it is well known that oftentimes people may have a flatulence type accident at the most inopportune times. This type of accident can occur to virtually anyone at anytime.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention provides a gag gift item. Such gag gift item including a generally hollow base member. The base member has each of a first predetermined shape and a first predetermined size and is formed from a first pre-selected material. There is a lid member which has each of a second predetermined shape and a second predetermined size and is formed from a second predetermined material. The lid member is hingedly attached to such base member. A closure means is provided. The closure means has each of a first portion attached to the base member and a second portion attached to the lid member for maintaining the lid member in a closed position when not in use. The final essential element of the present invention is a plurality of pre-selected items, useful in bathroom emergencies, disposed within the generally hollow base member.
  • OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
  • It is, therefore, one of the primary objects of the present invention to provide a gag gift item which exhibits a great deal of utility.
  • Another object of the present invention is to provide a gag gift item which will not offend anyone.
  • Still another object of the present invention is to provide a gag gift item which is useful in a number of places such as the home, camping, traveling or practically anywhere.
  • Yet another object of the present invention is to provide a gag gift item which is rather inexpensive too manufacture.
  • An additional object of the present invention is to provide a gag gift item which is easy to use.
  • In addition to the various objects and advantages of the present invention described with some degree of specificity above it should be obvious that additional objects and advantages of the present invention will become more readily apparent to those persons who are skilled in the relevant art from the following more detailed description of the invention, particularly, when such description is taken in conjunction with the attached drawing figures and with the appended claims.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a container according to one embodiment of the present invention;
  • FIG. 2 is a plan view of a number of items to be placed into the interior portion of the container illustrated in FIG. 1;
  • FIG. 3 is a side elevation view of an alternative embodiment of a container having a handle member attached to the top surface of the lid portion of the container; and
  • FIG. 4 is an end view of an alternative embodiment of a container having a handle member attached to the side surface of the lid portion of the container.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF A PRESENTLY PREFERRED AND VARIOUS ALTERNATIVE EMBODIMENTS OF THE INVENTION
  • Prior to proceeding to the more detailed description of the present invention it should be noted that, for the sake of clarity and understanding, identical components which have identical functions have been identified with identical reference numerals throughout the several views illustrated in the drawing figures.
  • Reference is now made, more particularly, to FIG. 1-4. Illustrated therein is gag gift item, generally designated 10. Such gag gift item 10, according to the presently preferred embodiment of the invention, includes a generally hollow base member 12. Base member 12 has each of a first predetermined shape and a first predetermined size and is formed from a first pre-selected material.
  • Gag gift item 10 further includes a lid member 14. Lid member 14 has each of a second predetermined shape and a second predetermined size and is formed from a second predetermined material, hingedly attached to said base member.
  • In the presently preferred embodiment of the instant invention, first predetermined shape of the base member 12 and the second predetermined shape of the lid member 14 are substantially identical. Preferably, such first predetermined shape of the base member 12 and the second predetermined shape of the lid member 14 are generally rectangular.
  • It is also presently preferred that the first predetermined material of the base member 12 and the second predetermined material of the lid member are substantially identical. In this embodiment, the first predetermined material of the base member 12 and the second predetermined material of the lid member 14 are selected from the group consisting of metal and plastic. Most preferably, both the first predetermined material of the base member 12 and the second predetermined material of the lid member 14 are plastic.
  • The lid member 14 is preferably hingedly attached to the base member 12 by one of a continuous hinge (not shown) and a plurality of hinges 16. Preferably, the lid member 14 is hingedly attached to the base member 12 by such plurality of hinges 16.
  • The gag gift item 10 further includes a closure means, generally designated 20, having a first portion 18 attached to the base member 12 and a second portion 22 attached to the lid member 14 for maintaining the lid member 14 in a closed position when not in use. The closure means 20 is at least one latch means, preferably, there are a pair of latch means.
  • Additionally, there is a plurality of pre-selected items, generally designated 30, useful in bathroom emergencies disposed within the generally hollow base member 12. Such plurality of pre-selected items useful in bathroom emergencies are selected from the group consisting of a change of his and her underwear, clean wipes, a resealable bag, hand sanitizer, alcohol wipes, rubber gloves, a tampon, tissues, toilet paper, a panty liner, a maxi-pad, absorbent pad and an air freshener.
  • In the most presently preferred embodiment of the invention, such gag gift item 10 further includes a handle member 24 one of attached to and formed integral with one of an outer surface 26 of the lid member 14 and a side surface 28 of the base member 12. Preferably, the handle member 24 is formed integral with one of the outer surface 26 of the lid member 14 and the side surface 28 of the base member 12. Most preferably, the handle member 24 is formed integral with the outer surface 28 the base member 12.
  • Finally, according to the presently preferred embodiment of the invention, at least the lid member 14 will be multi-colored.
  • While a presently preferred and various alternative embodiments of the present invention have been described in sufficient detail above to enable a person skilled in the relevant art to make and use the same it should be obvious that various other adaptations and modifications can be envisioned by those persons skilled in such art without departing from either the spirit of the invention or the scope of the appended claims.

Claims (17)

1. A gag gift item, said gag gift item comprising:
(a) a generally hollow base member having each of a first predetermined shape and a first predetermined size and formed from a first pre-selected material;
(b) a lid member, having each of a second predetermined shape and a second predetermined size and formed from a second predetermined material, hingedly attached to said base member;
(c) a closure means having a first portion attached to said base member and a second portion attached to said lid member for maintaining said lid member in a closed position when not in use; and
(d) a plurality of pre-selected items useful in bathroom emergencies disposed within said generally hollow base member.
2. A gag gift item, according to claim 1, wherein said first predetermined shape of said base member and said second predetermined shape of said lid member are substantially identical.
3. A gag gift item, according to claim 2, wherein said first predetermined shape of said base member and said second predetermined shape of said lid member are generally rectangular.
4. A gag gift item, according to claim 2, wherein said first predetermined material of said base member and said second predetermined material of said lid member are substantially identical.
5. A gag gift item, according to claim 2, wherein said first predetermined material of said base member and said second predetermined material of said lid member are selected from the group consisting of metal and plastic.
6. A gag gift item, according to claim 5, wherein said first predetermined material of said base member and said second predetermined material of said lid member are plastic.
7. A gag gift item, according to claim 5, wherein said wherein said lid member is hingedly attached to said base member by one of a continuous hinge and a plurality of hinges.
8. A gag gift item, according to claim 6, wherein said wherein said lid member is hingedly attached to said base member by a plurality of hinges.
9. A gag gift item, according to claim 6, wherein said wherein said closure means is at least one latch means.
10. A gag gift item, according to claim 6, wherein said wherein said closure means is a pair of latch means.
11. A gag gift item, according to claim 6, wherein said gag gift item further includes a handle member one of attached to and formed integral with one of an outer surface of said lid member and a side surface of said base member.
12. A gag gift item, according to claim 11, wherein said handle member is formed integral with one of said outer surface of said lid member and said side surface of said base member.
13. A gag gift item, according to claim 12, wherein said handle member is formed integral with said outer surface of said side surface of said base member.
14. A gag gift item, according to claim 11, wherein at least said lid member is multi-colored.
15. A gag gift item, according to claim 11, wherein said plurality of pre-selected items useful in bathroom emergencies are selected from the group consisting of a change of his and her underwear, clean wipes, a resealable bag, hand sanitizer, alcohol wipes, rubber gloves, a tampon, tissues, toilet paper, a panty liner, a maxi-pad, absorbent pad and an air freshener.
16. A gag gift item, according to claim 15, wherein said plurality of pre-selected items useful in bathroom emergencies are selected from the group consisting of a change of his and her underwear, a resealable bag, alcohol wipes, a tampon, tissues, a panty liner, a maxi-pad, and an air freshener.
17. A gag gift item, according to claim 15, wherein said plurality of pre-selected items useful in bathroom emergencies are selected from the group consisting of a change of his and her underwear, a resealable bag, alcohol wipes, a tampon, tissues and a panty liner.
