invented a new and useful Improvement in Methods of Book-Binding for Blank-Books.

The improvement is fully set-forth in the following specification, reference being had-to the accompanying drawings.

My invention relates to an lmprovement in l blank-books,diaries,'blotters, and other books which it is desirable to preserve when filled;

j and consists, principally, in providing a back I for the leaves, and also a detachable coveror binding, which maybe removed at will, and

applied to another when the blanks are lilled -or exhausted.

which is constructed in the ordinary manner,

except that Within the back, and parallel with it, is extended a metallic strip, turned up at each end' in the shape of a hook, and form ing a clasp for holding the leaves within the cover. i This clasp is covered, except the hooks at the ends. The ends H of this back are made to project beyond the leaves, as shown in Figs. 2, 3, 4, and5, and form a shoulder, which fits into the hooks F of the clasp E, thereby uniting the book and covers.

I am aware that removable covers or bindings for books have been heretofore used, and I therefore do not claim such, broadly; but

What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

1. The cover A B D, having the metal clasp E, provided with flanges F F, bent inwardly from its ends, in combination with the book or tablet K, having a back-piece, the ends of whichproject from the book or tablet, all substantially as shown, described, and for the purpose specified.

2. The leaves or tablet K, secured to the back-piece. byi glue or other adhesive substance, the ends of said back-piece projecting from the sides of the tablet, whereby the latter is adapted for attachment to the covers A B D, substantially as shown, described, and for the purpose set forth.
