(or. lor- 13m My invention relates generally to duplicating. machinesand particularly has todo with alight weight portable machine, of which the primaryobject thereof is to provide a construction embodyingk a table or container plate for supporting a compound and a cover for the table, the cover providing means enabling an operator of the machine to slide the cover back to` allow the sheet, to beV printed, to gradually engage the compound, and upon the return movementof the cover to cause the cover to act as a stripper separator for stripping or separating the printed sheet from the compound.
Another object is to provide the upper edges of the side edges of the table or container plate withrai1s,and also provide the edges ofl the cover with means for engaging the rails in a. manner to slidably connect the cover to the table, the. cover being detachable only when withdrawn in a Vlongitudinal direction from either end of the table.
A further object of my inventionis'toprovide aA durable substantially at machiney which is simple indesign and which may be` economicallymanufactured. A further object is to provide a machine of the kind described which is provided with a supply of composition pads so that there is-always one or more pads available for further duplicatingV of additional work.
The invention has among its further objects the production of a device-of the kinddescribed that is simple, inexpensive, compact, efficient and satisfactory for use wherever found applicable.
Many other objectsiand advantages4 of the construction herein shown and described willfbe obvious to those skilled in the art from the disclosure herein given. i
To this end, my invention consists in the novel construction, arrangement andY combinationv of parts herein shown and described, andv more particularly pointed out in the claims.

The duplicate copies are laid on the pad and pressed down by hand or roller and then removed.
As before mentioned, when a sheet is pulled from the pad, the character of the pad and moisture causes a tendency of the sheet to roll up and not lie flat, so that the printed or duplicated sheets are diiiicult to handle and will not properly stack unless held down. With the present device, referring to Fig. 3, thesheet of paper I4 is applied to the pad at the end I5 of the paper which may contact with the stop 9 or ange to guide the same. The sheet is then pressed down on the pad, the cover I2 being moved to a point where only the end I 6 is on the cover. After the desired interval the cover is pushed back toward the end I5 of the paper, the end I6 being retained. The
cover I2, sliding under the paper, lifts or strips the the cover or stripper plate 25 which is provided with the engaging turned over edges Z'I.A In this construction 24 represents one or more shallow pans o r trays which contain a compound 25, either mounted on fabric or arranged directly in the pan as desired. 'Ihe receptacle 2!)V is arranged to carry one or more pads, that shown being adapted to carry two, one or more additional receptacles and pans being arranged below and supporting the top one 2B. The several units may be arranged to slidably connect together so that they may be interchanged. The stripper plate 26, as before mentioned, is slidable and the paper may be applied or stripped from the pad in the same manner as set forth in th apparatus shown in Figs. 1 to 5.
Figs. 7 and 8 shows another construction which is substantially similar, except that there is provideda pressure roller and the pad is arranged on theflat plate 30. Referring to this construction, Si represents feet or cushion for the bottom of the plate 30 upon which is arranged the pad 32. A pressure roller 33 is connected by a link34 at 35 to the sides 3'I of a paper support or table 3S. Table 3S is supported by the legs'38 which slidably engage the edges of the plate 39. The paper sheet 39 is laid on the table 36 with the end 4D extending beyond the pad 32. As the roller and table 36 are moved, for example to the right, the paper is rolled down on the pad 32 and just before the end` 4I of the paper drops off the table 3S, the table and roller are moved in the opposite direction, stripping the paper from the pad.
It is believed that the construction and operation of the device as shown will be clearlyunderstood from the preceding description. With all of the constructionsshown the paper may be removed from the pad by the stripper plate or cover which is slidably mounted above the pad.
Having. thus described my invention, it is obvious that various immaterialmodications may be made in the same without departingfrom the spirit of my invention; hence, I do not wish to be understood as limiting myself to the exact form, construction, arrangement and combination of parts herein shown and described, or uses mentioned.
What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
l. In a machine of the kind described, a table provided with rails, a compound arranged on Said table between said rails, a cover member engageable with said rails and operatively related to said table in a manner whereby to apply a' sheet to said compound when said memberl is moved in one direction and when moved in another direction providing means for separating and removing said sheet from said compound.
2. In a machine of the kind described, a table including. a compound arranged thereon, and a cover member slidably related to said table in a manner whereby to apply a sheet to said compound when moved in one direction and when moved in the opposite direction providing means for, separating and removing said sheet from said compound.
v3. In a machine of the kind described, a table havingY side walls providing rails, a compound arranged'on the table between said rails, and a cover slidably secured to said rails of a character to remove a sheet previously applied tothe compound;
4. In a machine of the kind described, a table providing a support for aY compound associated therewith, and a cover secured to said table and operable to assist in applying a sheet and removing it from the compound.
5. `In aV machine of the kind described, a table including a compound arranged thereon, and a cover secured to said table and longitudinally operable to assist in gradually applying a sheet and removing it from the' compound.
6. In a machine of the kind described, a table including a compoundharranged thereon, and a cover slidably related to said table providing means whenmoved in one direction for applying a sheet to the compound and when moved in the opposite direction providing means for separating Vand removing said sheet from said compound.

In a machine of the kind described, a table provided with upper rails and lower rails and providing a support for one or more trays each containing a compound, a member engageable with said upper rails and operable with respect to said table and compound for applying a sheet to said compound and Yalso providing means for separating and removing said sheet from said compound, Yand said lower rails providing legs for said table and also providing means for receiving the upper rails of another like table whereby a plurality of tables may be slidably associated with each other. l Y
