This invention relates to shade, curtain and drapery holders and has for the primary object the provision of a device of the above stated character which may be readily adjusted to window frames of different sizes and may be secured thereto without the use of nails, screws and like fasteners and may be quickly removed from the window frame when desired.

With these and other objects in view this invention consists in certain novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.

For a complete understanding of my invention, reference is to be had to the following description and accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 is a front elevation illustrating a holder constructed in accordance with my invention and showing the same applied to a flange portion of a window frame.

Figure 5 is a perspective view illustrating a modified form of the plates of my invention.

Referring in detail to the drawing, the numerals 1 and 2 indicate plates forming part of the holder and each plate has formed on one edge a flange 3 equipped with tongues 4 that parallel the plates. The plates 1 and 2 engage with the front face of a window frame 5 while the flanges 3 engage the side edges of the frame with the tongues 4 in engagement with the rear face of the frame. The plates are adjustably connected by a bar 6 whereby the flanges of said plates may be drawn tightly against the side edges of the frame.

Pairs of tongues 7 are struck up from the plates and the tongues of each pair extend in the direction of each other and converge to form socket elements to removably receive the ends of curtain and drapery rods 8, the latter being of the telescopic type. The plates 1 and 2 also have struck therefrom tongues 9 arranged at right angles to said plates and one tongue is provided with an aperture while the other tongue is provided with a notch to receive the pintles of a shade roller.

The plate 1 is ofi'set, as shown at 10, to form a groove or channel which at one end opens outwardly through the front face of the plate, as shown at 11, to receive one end of the rod 6. Said 55 end of the rod is equipped with an angularly related head 12 adapted to enter any one of a series of keyhole slots 13 formed in the offset 10 for the purpose of adjustably connecting the rod 6 to the plate 1. The plate 2 is offset to provide spaced sleeves 14 which receive the screw threaded end of the rod 6. The screw threaded end of the rod has turned thereon a nut 15 engageable with one of the sleeves 14. The rod 6 adjacent the screw threaded portion and lying between the sleeves 14 is flattened, as shown at 16, to prevent turning of the rod in the sleeves by said flattened portion engaging with the plate 2.

As shown in Figure 5, instead of having the sockets formed in the plates they may have struck therefrom substantially L-shaped tongues 17 to engage with curtain and drapery rods which are designed to receive such tongues.

If desired, the rod 6 may be squared in cross section to prevent turning instead of employing the flattened portion 16.

Having described the invention, I claim:

A holder comprising a pair of plates to engage with a window frame, flanges on said plates to engage the side edges of the window frame, means for securing to said plates curtain and drapery rods, means for connecting a shade roller to said plates, one of said plates having offsets to form spaced sleeves, a rod having a screw threaded portion received in said sleeves and provided with means to contact with the last-named plate to prevent rotation of the rod, a nut threaded to the rod and engaging one of the sleeves, said other plate having an offset to form a channel opening outwardly through the outer face of said last plate to receive the other end of'said rod, said last-named offset having a series of keyhole slots communicative with the channel, a head formed on the last-named end of the rod and received in any one of said keyhole slots.
