` AMUSEMENT DEVICE Filed Jan. 25, 1934 ATTORNEYS Patented Oct. 30, 1934 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE 4 Claims.
My invention more particularly relates to an amusement device comprising a hollow body formed of resilient material such as rubber and provided with a nozzle through which liquid may be drawn into the body member and through which it may be expelled therefrom.
Other novel features of my invention will be described in the specification and will be particularly pointed out in the claims.
My invention will best be understood by reference to the accompanying drawing in which I have illustrated a preferred embodiment thereof and in which- Fig. 1 is a plan view of a device embodying my invention;
Fig. 2 is a rear view thereof;
Fig. 3 is a section taken along the line 3-3 of Fig. 2;
Fig. 4 is a sectional view similar to Fig. 3 illustrating a modication; and
Fig. 5 is a fragmentary sectional view similar to Figs. 3 and 4 and showing a further slight modication.
Like reference characters indicate like parts throughout the drawing.
Referring to the drawing 10 is an elongated hollow body member formed of resilient material such as rubber capable of being collapsed under pressure yet suiciently stii to cause the member to return to its distended position when pressure isl removed. The body member is preferably arcuate in form having a rear concave side 11 and a front convex side 12, the bottom portion of said member preferably being at as indicated at 13 in Figs. 2, 3 and 4 and capable of being seated on a curvilinear body such as the upper side of a toilet bowl and beneath the seat.
The concave side of the body member is provided with a laterally extending nozzle 14 which in the embodiment of my invention illustrated in Figs. 1 and 2 is formed integral with the body member and the end 141 of which is preferably turned upwardly as indicated in Fig. 2.
By collapsing the body member by exerting pressure with the hand and placing the end of the nozzle in Water or other liquid, then when the pressure is removed liquid is drawn through the nozzle into the body member, and when the device is seated on a suitable base such as the upper edge of a toilet bowl and pressure applied to the upper side as would be the case with the seat covering the bowl, liquid is expelled through the nozzle to the amusement of spectators in the vicinity of the device. While I have described a particular use for the device, it will be understood, of course, that it is not limited thereto.
In the embodiment of my invention illustrated in Fig. 4 the body member 10a is provided with a cylindrical opening 15 surrounded at its orifice by lips 16 in which is receivable a nipple 17 which may readily be disengaged from the device.
The device illustrated in Fig. 5 is similar to that shown in Fig. 4 but illustrates the nipple extending upwardly at a sharper angle than that shown in Fig. 4.
While I have described my invention in its preferred embodiment, it is to be understood that the words which I have used are words of description rather than of limitation. Hence, changes within the purview of the appended claims may be made without departing from the true scope and spirit of my invention in its broader aspects.
What I claim is:
1. In an amusement device, a hollow elongated body member generally arcuate in shape and formed of resilient material capable of being collapsed when subjected to pressure and suiciently stiff to return tol its distended position when the pressure is removed, said body member being formed on its concave side with a laterally extending nozzle through which liquid may be drawn into the body and from which it may be expelled therefrom under pressure.
2. In an amusement device, a hollow elongated body member generally arcuate in shape and formed of resilient material capable of being collapsed when subjected to pressure and sufficiently stiff to return to its distended position when the pressure is removed, said body member being provided on its lower portion and on the concave side thereof with a laterally extending nozzle through which liquid may be drawn into said body member and through which it may be expelled therefrom.
3. In an amusement device, a hollow elongated body member generally arcuate in shape and formed of resilient material capable of being collapsed when subjected to pressure and sufciently stiff to return to its distended position when the pressure is removed, said body member being provided on its concave side with a nozzle integral With said body member and extending laterally therefrom through which liquid may be drawn into said body member andthrough which it may be expelled therefrom.
4. In an amusement device, a hollow elongated body member generally arcuate in shape and formed of resilient material capable of being collapsed when subjected to pressure and sufficiently stiff to return to its distended position when the pressure is removed, said body member being provided on its concave side with an opening, and a detachable nipple receivable therein through which liquid may be drawn into said body member and through which it may be expelled therefrom.
