Referring now to the drawings in detail, it will be seen that the embodiment of the invention which has been illustrated comprises a hollow body 1 of suitable material which constitutes a casing, said body being mounted on a support 2. Journaled transversely in the lower portion of the body 1 is a shaft 3 which is driven from an electric motor by a belt and pulley connection 5.

Mounted transversely in the bodyl above the shaft 3 is a rod 16 upon which a rod 17 is journaled lfor swinging movement. The rod. 17 eX- tends through the bottom of the body 1 'and `the leg 7 is liked thereon for swinging movement. The leg 7 is operable in an opening 18 which is provided therefor in the lower portion ofthe kbody Vsegmental hub portion 13. A pin' 14 projects from 1 while anv opening 19 is provided forjthe cable l 15. The rod 17 is formed to provide a slot 20 (see Figure 7) for the reception 'of an off-center pin 21 which projects from a Adisk 22 i'lXed on the other end portion of the shaft `3. It will thus be seen that as the shaft rotates swinging movement will be imparted tothe rod 17.
Journaled vertically in the body 1 isa shaft .23 to which'the head 24 is i'lx'ed. Projecting from the shaft 23 is an arm 25 which is formed to provide aslot 26 :(see Figure 6) for Vthe reception of an angular extension 27 on the upper end of the rod 17. By thisrarrangement oscillating movement is imparted to the shaft 23.
Journaled transversely in an upper portion of the body 1 and projecting laterally beyond said body is a shaft 28 to the end portions of which swinging arms 29 are fixed. Depending from an intermediate portion of the shaft 28 is an arm 30 which is engaged in the slot 26 of the arm 25 for actuating said shaft 28.
A stationary support 31 rises from the top of t.,
the body 1 into the head 24, the lower portion of said head being provided with an arcuate slot 32 (see Figure 4) which accommodates said support. A pair of eyes 33 is mounted on the support 31, said eyes being observable through openi ings 34 in the head 24. A bracket 35 is mounted for vertical sliding movement on the support 31 and fixed on said bracket are upper and lower teeth 36 and 37, respectively, which are observable through a mouth opening 38. As illustrated to advantage in Figures 3 and 4 of the drawings,
a pin 39 projects from the lower teeth 37 and rides on a cam 40 which is mounted in the lower portion of the head 24.
In operation, when the motor 4 is energized, 105
the shaft 3 is rotated and swinging movement is imparted to the leg 7. The leg 6 is caused to describe a stamping movement, the sections 9 and 10 thereof swinging on the hinges 8 and 11, as indicated in broken lines in Figure 5 of the draw- I ings. When the pin 14 engages the substantially segmental hub 13 for actuating the disk 12 the leg 6 is elevated to raised position through the medium of the cable 15. This elevating movement of the leg 6 is comparatively slow. However, when the connection of the cable 15 with the disk 12 passes upper dead center the leg 6 falls rapidly to lowered or normal position by gravity, the disk 12 running ahead of the shaft 3.,
As the rod 1'7 swings on its supporting rod 16, oscillating movement is imparted to the vertical shaft 23 upon which the head 24 is fixed. As the head 24 is thus oscillated the eyes 23, being stationary, appear to roll or move in the openings 34. As the head 24 oscillates, the teeth 36 and 37 are caused to rise and fall on the support 31. It may be well to here state that the bracket 35 is splined on the support 31 to retain the teeth against rotation with the cam 40. As `theshaft 28 is oscillated through its connection with the vertical shaft 23 the arms 29 are raised and lowered. If desired, asound reproducing apparatus in the form of a radio receiving set or a phono.- graph may be provided in the device in which case a speaker would be mounted in the head 24 for emitting the sound through the mouth opening 38.
Itis believed that the many advantages of an advertising device constructed in'accordance with Athe present invention will be readily understood,
and although a preferred embodiment of the invention` is as illustrated and described, it is to be understood that changes in the details of construction and in the combination and arrangement of parts may be resorted to which willfall within the scope of the invention as claimed. j What is claimedisz- 1. An advertising device of the class described comprising a body, a shaft'rotatably mounted in the bodypa leg hingedly connected to the body, means operatively connecting the leg to the shaft for actuation thereby, and means for actuating the shaft, said leg including hingedly connected upper and lower sections, the first-named means comprising a disk including a substantially segmental hub portion loosely mounted on the shaft,

2. An advertising device of the class described comprising a body, a shaft rotatably mounted -in the body, means for actuating the shaft, a rod pivotally mounted, at an intermediate point, for swinging movement in the body, a leg fixed on one end portion of the rod, a vertical shaft rotatably mounted in the body, an arm extending from the vertical shaft and operatively engaged with the other end portion of the rod for operatively connecting said vertical shaft thereto, a
head fixed on the vertical shaft, another shaft journaled transversely in the body, arms fixed on the third-named shaft for movement therewith,
:means operatively connecting the third-named shaft to the rstnamed arm for actuation thereby, and means operatively connecting the rod to the first-named shaft for actuation thereby.y

An advertising device of the class described comprising a body, a hollow head mounted for swinging lmovement on the body, means for actuating thehead, a stationary support fixed on the body and rising therefrom in the head, teeth mounted for vertical movement onthesupport, and a cam fixed in the head and operatively connected with the teeth for raising and lowering said teeth, the head vhaving an opening therein, exposing the teeth.
