Description
I. SOOVILLE. Sash-Holder.
Patented Nov. 13, 1877.,
L Z Z f INVEN TDP\ vj d n ".PEIERS, PHOTD-UTHDGRAPHER, WASHINGTON. D C
UNITED STATES PATENT @FFIGE.
IVES SOOVILLE, OF OAKLAND, CXLIFORNIA.
IMPROVEMENT IN SASH-HOLDERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 196,993, dated November 13, 1877; application filed February 26, 1877.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, IvEs SoovILLE, of Oakland, county of Alameda, and State of Oalifornia, have invented a certain new and useful Attachment to Window-Sashes, to prevent the same fi'om shaking or rattling; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description. of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which- Figure 1 represents a section of a sash with my invention attached; Fig. 2, a similar view with plate and roller removed; Fig. 3, a plan view with a portion of the sash broken away; Fig. 4, aview showing the spring and rod; Fig. 5, a detached view of the rod with its fastening-plate, and Fig. 6- a plan view of the plate.
This invention has relation to means for preventing the rattling of window-sashes; and consists in a roller, lever-rod, and spring, with a triangular plate for attaching one end of said rod to the sash, as will be hereinafter described, and subsequently pointed out in the claims.
In the accompanying drawings, A represents a portion of a window-sash, to which is secured a roller, B. This roller is secured to the end of a lever-rod, a, the latter bearing upon a spiral or other suitable spring, I), re-
tained in position by a plate, 0, the same having an elongated opening, d, to allow the rod to to work. The roller B is retained in position by a plate, e, which also has an elongated opening, f, through which passes the end of the rod (1. This rod on acts as a lever, and has at one end a head, g, and is connected to the sash by a triangular plate, h. This plate has a hole, through which the rod passes, and the ends of the plate are bent down, as illustrated in Fig. 5 of the drawings, and afterward driven into the wood of the sash, said plate allowing the rod at its farther end to freely move vertically when the roller is forced against the window-frame by the action of the spring.
Having now fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. The combination, with the roller B and spring I), of the lever-rod a and the triangular plate h, by which the rod is connected to the sash, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
2. The triangular plate h, rod a, spring 6, roller B, and plates 6 0, having elongated openings elf, substantially as and for the purpose specified.
