Description

Jufiy 17, 1934. W. H. ARMSQTRONG 1,966,700
RANGE BOILER STAND Filed July 21, 1953 fmvefz/ofl' Patented July 17, 1934 UNETED ATEN OFFICE RANGE BOILER STAND 1 Claim.
My invention consists of a range boiler stand, the object of which is to provide a strong, simple and attractive structure composed of detachable members which may be readily assembled, for the purpose of supporting the usual cylindrical copper boiler connected with a kitchen range.
In the accompanying drawing illustrating my invention Fig. 1 is a side elevation; Fig. 2 is a plan view and partial section of the stand inverted, and Fig. 3 is a vertical section through the line 3-3 in Fig. 1.
Referring to the drawing, 4 is a flat annular supporting rim having an upwardly extending flange 5. The supporting rim 4 is of suitable dimensions and strength for the range boiler to rest upon, within the flange 5, which prevents any lateral displacement of the boiler. The support ing rim 4 has three pairs of lugs 6, 6, cast on the under side to prevent the legs 7 from rotating on their pivots. Each leg '7 is substantially wedge shape in cross section, and has a horizontal plate 8 cast in its upper end, provided with a slot 9 for the reception of the bolt 10 extending through the rim 4 and securing it to the leg. The upper portion of the leg 7 is made wedge shape in cross section for the purpose, in assembling the parts of the stand, of inserting the narrow portion between the lugs 6, 6, and sliding it inwardly until the leg bears firmly against both lugs.
The rim 4 is comparatively thin and is cast of uniform thickness except at the point of attachment with each leg, where it is more heavily cast to constitute a sufficient support for the bolt 10. While the leg '7 is properly located between and firmly contacting with the lugs 6, 6, the bolt 10 is inserted through the hole in the rim 4 and into the slot 9, and is tightly set by the nut 11, to secure the leg and rim firmly together.
The described construction provides a strong, light and attractive stand, economical to manufacture, that may be shipped in compact form, and is easily assembled by unskilled help.
What I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
A boiler stand comprising an annular flat rim having an upwardly extending flange, combined with a wedge shaped leg in cross section, the apex of which extends outwardly, a pair of lugs cast upon the under side of said rim between which the upper end of said leg is wedged, the leg having a flat top plate with a V shaped slot therein, the upper surface of said top plate and the under surface of said rim being in fiat cont-act with each other and clamped together by a bolt extending through said rim and said slot.
