I claim as my invention:

1. A pad having a filler of resilient material for use on a mattress, comprising a body member, a pair of hoods secured to opposite portions of said body member, each hood being stitched along three sides only to the sides and ends of said body member along its central plane to form a pair of pockets spaced from and facing each other for receiving corresponding opposite portions of a. mattress, said hoods being of substantial depth and movable to opposte sides of said pad with-` out detaching the same from the pad.

2. In combinaton, an inner spring mattress, a pad having a filler of resilient material on said mattress and a hood Secured to said pad at each end thereof, said hoods facing eachI other in spaced relation and each being secured across the end of said pad and a short distance along each side from the end thereof, the ends of said mattress being positioned within said hoods, the width of each of said hoods being substantially that of said mattress but the dimension of said hoods transversely to said pad being slightly less than the thickness of said mattress Whereby said hoods will partially compress said mattress and thereby grip the ends thereof.
