ATTORNEYS N.F ETERS, FHOTO-HTHOGRAPMER, WASHINGTON. a C.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE,
WILLIAM HEUERMANN, OF SEDALIA, MISSOURI.
IM PROVEMENT IN MILK-FAILS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. [95,507, dated September 25, 1877; application filed August 11, 1877.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM HEUERMANN, of Sedalia, in the county of Pettis and State of Missouri, have invented a new and Improved Strainer for Buckets or Pails, of which the following is a specification:
This invention has relation to strainers for buckets; and the nature of my invention consists in combining, with the pouring-spout of a bucket, a removable strainer, a hinged retaining-cap, and a hinged cover, as will be hereinafter explained.
In the annexed drawings, Figure 1 is a section taken diametrically through the improved bucket. Fig. 2 shows the strainer.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
, The letter A designates the body of a bucket or pail, which is usually made of sheet metal, and provided with a pivoted bail, B, and a handle, 0.
D designates a hood, from which springs a pouring-spout, E, near the end of which is formed a ring, a, forming a seat for a strainer, G. This strainer is preferably composed of gauze-wire, suitably secured to a ring, b, and
when it is adjusted on its seat it is retained in position by means of a shoulder, 0, formed on a hinged cap, H. This cap H forms the nozzle of the pouring-spout, and its reduced end has a cover, J, hinged to it, which cover will automatically open when the bucket is tilted, and close when it is set upright.
The cap H may be held shut by friction, or by any suitable fastening.
It will be seen from the above description that the strainer can be quickly removed when it is necessary to clean it, and that it can be quickly replaced.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The combination of the hinged nozzle H, having hinged cap J, with the pail A, provided with the hood D, pouring-spout E, and strainer G, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
WILLIAM HEUEBMANN.
