Description
F. P. EDMANS.
. BED-BOTTOM.-
No. 193,148. Papentedfmly 17, 1877. fw U .w|NEssEs= i ummm ,mi wv T OF.-
I M PROVEMENTlN BED-BOTTOMS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 198,148, dated July 17, 1877 application led 4 May 28, 1877.
To all whom 'it may concern:
Be it known that I, FBEDRICK P. EDMANs, of Troy, in the county of Rensselaer and State of New York, have invented a new and Im` proved Bed-Bottom, of which the following is a specification: y
This invention has relation to spring bedbottoms and the nature of my invention consists in looped C-shaped springs fixed to and overhanging the head and foot cross-rails, in combination with angular hookin g-bloeks fixed to the slats, as will be hereinafter explained.
In the annexed drawings, Figure l is a top view of the improved bed-bottom, with one slat removed and the others partly broken C-shaped springs, which are permanently secured to the lower. sides of the rails B by means of staples, and curved upward and Aover these rails, as shown in Figs. 1 and 3.
The free looped ends of the springs D are adaptedto receive and engage with the beveled ends of angular blocks f f, which are notched longitudinally and rigidly secured to the bottom of the slats C, near the ends thereof. The blocks f are adjusted on their slats in such relation to the overhanging looped ends of the springs, When the rails B B are xed in their places, that the said blocks will rmly hold their places without rattling.
1t will be seen from the above description that I have a substantial and cheap bed-bottom, which can be easily taken to pieces and put together, and which can be packed away in a very small space.
.Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- In combination with the C-shaped springs D and angular hooking-blocks f, the shouldered hooks a on end rails A, and hooks b on side rails B, substantially as described.
