This invention relates to writing pens and may be applied to the more or less common type of writing pen in which the pen point is 'removable from the holder, although the ,y invention is. particularly designed and herein disclosed in connection with a Writing pen of the type disclosed in my Patent No. 1,767,- 189, granted June 24, 1930.
The Objects of the invention are to provide improved means for removably securing panying drawing in which a writing pen embodying a selected form of the invention is illustrated.

A penpoint 9 and a feed bar 10 are disposed in cooperative relation so that the rearward portion 11 of the feed bar constitutes a iillerlbar in the hollow end of the pen holder ,455 -and fits'under the rearward portion ,12'of the y pen point 9 to form therewith a shank adapted to lit within the hollow end of the sleeve 8 of the pen holder. For insuring proper positioning ofthe pen point 9 and `feed bar 10 longitudinallyof each other, the feed bar is provided with an indentation 18 for receiving the projection 14 on the under sidev of the f pen point 9 which is formed .by indenting a portion thereof as clearly shown in Fig. 2. yFor removably holding the pen point and feed bar in operative position in the hollow end of the ypen holder, a metallic spring element 15 is provided. This spring `element may conveniently be formed of a length of spring wire doubled upon itself to form a double wire element Yas clearly shown in F ig.- .4, the front end of the spring element being thus formed into a slightly offset loop 16. The main body portion of the spring eley ment may be termed a wing portion, `and it is provided at its rear end with a laterally extending stemrportion 17 which is adapted toextend into an opening 18 which extends transversely through the rear end portion of the feed bar 10. `Oni-ts under side, the feed bar is provided with a longitudinally extending groove 19for receiving the wing portion of the spring-as clearly shown in Figs. 2 and 3. The spring may fit the opening 18 so as to be readily removabletherefrom so that it may conveniently be replaced in the event that it loses its resiliency, and it is preferably made of or plated with such metal as Will resist-corrosion by ink.
By inspection of Figf2, it ywill be seen thatwhen thefpen point and feed bar `(to whichthe spring 15 is secured) are inserted into the Vhollow end of the pen holder, the spring 15 will bearagainst the inside ofthe hollow end of the pen holder to removably hold the parts in assembled relation. If desired, the reinforcing sleeve 8 may be slightly counterbored as indicated `at 2O to provide a stop shoulder 21 for limiting the extent towhich the pen point will normalwillie I i ly be inserted. However, because of the conventional taper of the pen point, the provision of a stopshoulder such as just referred to is not necessary since the enlarged, transverse dimension of the .pen point will serve to limit the extent to which the pen point may be inserted.

In accordance with the disclosure of my said patent, the outer or forward end portion of the feed bar 10 is provided with'a `plurality of narrow slots 2l .which constitute reservoirs for yholding a supply of ink or other writing iuid'which is obtained by simply dipping the pen in a supply of ink in the conventionalmanner. Y' Y Y Changes may be made in the described structure without departing from the spirit of the invention, the scopeof which should be determined by reference to the following claimswhich should be construedv as broadly aspossible consistent with the state of the art. c
I claim asmy invention x 1. Ina pen of the class described, the combination of a pen holder having a hollow end, a pen point, a feed bar adapted to fit under the rearward portion ofthe pen `point to form therewith a pen point shank adapted to be inserted intothe hollow end of said holder, and a spring element exerting pressure betweentheinsideof the hollow end of the pen holder and said feed bar to removably hold the pen point and feed bar in thevholder.
- 2. In a pen of the class described, the combination of a pen holder having ka hollow end, a pen point, a filler bar adapted tolit under the rearward portion of the Y'pen point to form therewith a pen point shank adapted to be inserted into the hollow end Vof said holder, and a spring element having a stem portion extending into a transverse cavity in said filler bar so as to be secured thereby, anda wing portion extending longitudinally of the bar along its bottom sidek and exerting pressure against the inside of the uhol- 10W` end of the pen holder to removably hold the pen point and filler bar inthe holder.

In a pen of the class described, thecomlbination of a pen holder having a hollow end, a pen point, a feed bar adapted to it under the rearward portion of the pen point to form therewith a pen point shank adapted tojbe insertedinto the hollow end of the holder', and a metallic spring element carried by said feed bar and exerting pressure on vthe inside of the hollow end of the pen holder,toremovably hold the lpen -point and fillerbar in theholder. In a pen of the class described, the combination of a pen holder having a hollow end, a pen point, a feed bar adapted to fit under the pen point, said feed bar having a rearward portioncooperating with the rearward portion of the pen point to form a shank having an indentation `forming a projection on its under surface adapted to fit into the indentation in said feed bar forlongitudinally positioning said parts relative to each other, and a spring element exerting pressure between the inside of the hollow :endof the pen holder and said feed bar to removably hold said parts in the holder. .Y

In a pen of the class described,the combination. ofa pen holder having a hollow end, a metallic reinforcingv sleeve inY said hol-` low end, apen point, a feed bar adaptedto fit under the pen p.oint said feed bar having a rearward portion cooperating with' the rearward portion of Vthe. pen point to form a shank adapted to be inserted into said' reinforcing sleeve, and a spring element exerting pressure betweenthe inside of said reinforcing sleeve and said feedbar to removably hold the penpoint and feed bar in the holder.

In a pen of the class described, the come ybination vof a pen holder having a hollow Efio under side, ,and a spring element secured at Y' its rear end to said feed bar, extending longitudinally thereof in said groove and exerting pressure on the inside of the pen holder to removably hold the pen point and feed bar in thevholder. i l

In a pen of the class described, the combination of a pen holderhaving a hollow end, a pen point, a .feed bar adapted to fit under the pen point, said feed bar having a rearward portion cooperating with the rearward portiony of the penpoint to form a shank adapted to be inserted into the hollow end of the said holder,l said pen point and feedbar having interitting means for longitudinally positioningsaid parts relative to eachother, said feed bar having a longitudinally extending groove in its under side, and a spring element secured at its rear end to said feed bar, extending longitudinally lthereof' in said groove and exerting pressure on the inside of the pen holder to removably hold the pen. point and feed bar in the holder.
9. A device as defined in claim 2, wherein said `filler bar is provided adjacent its forward portion With a plurality of capillary cavities serving to retain and feed ink to said pen point.
