-My invention relates to an improved device for supporting trousers or other articles of wearing apparel. I
An object of my invention is to provide a device for the suspension of wearing apparel or more particularly trousers that can be used with extraordinary convenience and ease. It is a trite truism to assert that a change of trousers with the accompanying 1O necessity of hanging up the replaced trousers usually must be effected under hurried circumstances. My invention provides a means for expediting this act with the utmost L case of manipulation during a minimum period of time.
Another object of my invention is to provide a hanger which will support the apparel or more particularly the trousers in an inverted position in order that the wrinkles developed While the trousers are worn may be removed by the stretching sustained through their own Weight. To effect this end the trousers are clamped by the cuff at the rear crease in such a manner that the posterior length of the trousers falls into a straight and taut line under the action of the weight of the trousers.
A further object of my invention is to provide a device for the suspension of trousers which admits of a free and unrestricted hanging of the front crease and which is conducive to the removal of the bagginess that usually develops during their wear.
An additional object of my invention is to provide a device for the suspension of wearing apparel or more particularly trousers that is characterized with the utmost simplicity and compactness, avoids involved manipulation, minimizes spacial requirements, and eliminates the occasional adjustments for repair and replacement that are inherently necessary in conventional hangers. Furthermore, my device can be manufactured in an exceptionally economical manner, thus eX tending appreciably the group of prospective and benefited users.
Other advantages of my improved apparel hanger will become evident as the details of construction and assembly are disclosed.
Figure 1 is a plan view of a bracket.
Figure 2 is a sectional view of abra'c'ket taken on line22 of Figurel.
Figure 3 is a sectional view of a taken on line 33 ofFigure 1 Figure 4 is a planview of a clamp. Figurefi is anelevational View of a'bracket and a clamp in which trousers are shown to be suspended. 7 1. f
Figure 6 s a front elevationalfview of a bracket and a' clamp in which the trousers are shown to be suspended. i
Figure 7 is a plan view of an alternate bracket on a smaller scale.
For the purpose of illustrating my invention I have shown-in the accompanying drawing several forms thereof which are at'present preferred by me, since the same have been foundin practice to give satisfactory and reliable results, although it is to be under stood'that the various instrumentalities.of which my invention consists can be variously arranged and: organized and thatmy inven tion is not limited to the precise arrangement and-organization of the instrumentalitiesas herein shown and .c'lescribed v c Referring to the drawing in which like reference charactersindicate like parts, '1' is a bracket consisting'of a part 2 adapted to be attached to a wall or a door 12 ando'f two or more tapering fingers 3 that aredesigned to extend horizontally at right angles to the-part 2. The fingers 3 can be fabricated outofany suitable material either assolid pieces orof wire bent to correspond to the configuration as illustrated in Figure 7 The fingers 3 taper to a narrow end and terminate in upturned. flanges 4i preferablyrounded to facilitate the admissionof the clamp 6. In-, 7 termediate between the fingers?) are the out. wa-rdly'flaring cutaway sections 5 of smaller dimension at the wall12 and of larger dimension' at the upturned flanges 4 The conven' tionalcla-mp 6 consists of the two handles 7 and-the two "jaws-8. Between the latter the trousers 11 are suspended by the on]? 13 or by the ends should there be no cufi's near the rear crease 14:. Inthe description'ofthe way in which the device is used it is evident that the'clamp 6' holding the trousers 11 can beeasily inserted intooneof-the openspa'ces bracket 5 since the opening of ingress further facilitates the admission of the clamp 6. The upturned flanges 4 at the ends of the fingers 3 serve as detents to prevent dislodgment of the clamp 6 from the rack 1 should the sus pended trousers be in any way disturbed. While the trousers 11- are held in this inverted pendant position any wrinkles that have developed during use will be removed because of the weight of the trousers sustaining a taut line along the rear crease-14. The unsupported front portion of the trousers falls loosely to one side and it is a matter of experience to observe that any bagginess that has developed during the wearing of the trousers is removed while they are suspended in this position. The bracketl is provided with an opening 9 through which can be passed a screw 10 in order to fasten the bracket rigidly to the wall or door. 12. It is also to be observed that the jaws 8'of the clamp 6 can be lined with felt or some yielding mate-' rial in order to avoid undue marking of the cuffs of the trousers or of the ends should there be no cufi's when they are placed into the suspension bracket 1. It is obvious from the above description that trousers can be very easily inserted into the clamp 6 and suspended from the bracket 1, thus avoiding unnecessary manipulation and delay when an individual is subjected to the pressure of limited time. 1 r I am aware that the invention may be embodied in other specific forms without departing from the spirit or essential attributes thereof, and I therefore desire the present embodiment to be considered in all respects as illustrative and not restrictive, reference being had to the appended claims rather than to the foregoing description to. indicate the scope of the invention. 1 r Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patentis': i 1. In a garment'hanger, a bracket adapted to be attached to a vertical support and comprising a plurality of horizontal fingers interspaced with slots therebetween, garment supporting clips adapted to extend through said slots and to rest upon the fingers adj oining said slots, and upturned flanges on the outer ends of said fingers adapted to engage the corresponding ends of said clips to pre-' vent accidental disengagement of said clips. 2. Thecombination with a ga'rmenthanger comprising a bracket formed of a vertical portion adapted to besecured to a perpendicular support, a plurality of horizontal fingers interspaced by slots therebetween, and upturned. flanges on the outer-tips of said fingers, of garment supporting clips adapted to extend through said slots and to rest upon the fingers adjoining said slots, the outer ends of said clips being adaptedto abut against the upturned flanges on the tips of adjacent fingers to prevent accidental displacement of said clips.
3. The combination with a garment hanger comprising a bracket formed of a vertical portion adapted to be secured to a perpendicular support, a plurality of outwardly tapering horizontal fingers interspaced by rearwardly tapering slots therebetween, and
