To all whom it may concern -Be it known that we, CHRISTIAN STATES and HARRY I. 000K, of Topeka, in the county of Shawnee and State of Kansas, have invented a new and Improved Combined Pipe- Tongs, Wrench, and Screw-Driver, of which the following is a specification:

In the accompanying drawing, Figure 1 represents a side view, and Fig. 2 an end view, of our improved pipe-ton g, wrench, and screw-driver.

Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.

The invention relates to an improved tool that combines in a simple and effective manner the advantages of a pipe-tong, wrench, and screw-driver; and it consists of a double jaw, with curved end and notches, in connection with a single jaw and lever sliding in the double jaw, and having projecting pivot-pins for entering into the notches.

In the drawing, A represents a double jaw or clamp, that is curved at one end to extend around a pipe, bar, or nut, and laterally connected by rigid stay-pins a. The longer part of the double jaw A is provided with notches b, into which the pivot-pins d of a single jaw, B, enter. The single jaw B slides in the double jaw A, and is made at the clamping end in eccentric form, and toothed at the curved part to bind on the article to be operated upon.

The single jawB is provided with a handle,

B, that extends to suitable length back of the pivot-pins d, pressure being applied to the handle whenever the pins are seated in the proper notches, so that a strong and firm hold is exerted by the jaws on the pipe or round bar to be screwed or unscrewed.

The lower end of the handle B is made tapering, to be used as a screw-driver, in which case the single jaw is drawn out, and the doublejaw puton in revers 5 d position on the single jaw, so as to form a handle for applying the lower end of the handle B to the screws.

Thejaws of the implement may be reversed, and the curved jaw be made single, and the longer straight jaw double or the notches of the curved jaw may be on the opposite side, which changes, however, are only equivalent constructions to the one shown in the drawing.
