An object of the present invention is the provision of means for connecting the panels of which the wall is made, and for reenforcing the walls and tying the same to lo the floor and ceiling, as well as for tying a partition wall to another wall, the invention being constructed in sections ready to use, so that a strong and durable wall may be quickly set up at a low cost.
Another object of the invention is the provision of a combined wall reenforcing and plaster anchoring strip which may be readily attached in position and which will resist buckling and prevent the plaster from o cracking and leaving the wall.
With the above and other objects in view, the invention further includes the following novel features and details of construction, to be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and pointed out in the appended claims.
In the drawings Figure 1 is a fragmentary'perspective view illustrating awall constructed in accordance with the invention.
Figure 2 is a section on the line 2-2 of Figure 1.
Figure 3 is a sectional view illustrating the manner of connecting the adjacent edges of the wall panels.
Figure t is a detail perspective view of one of the panel connecting members.
Referring to the drawings in detail wherein like characters of reference denote corresponding parts, the reference character 10 indicates panels of a composition board of any character, such as celotex, wall board, etc. These panels are connected toprovide a complete wall structure, and for this purpose, the adjacent horizontal and vertical edges of the panels are connected by a panel connecting member 11, illustrated in detail in Figure 4 of the drawings.
This panel connecting member 11 is formed of metal and comprises a substantially Z- and a web 13. The flanges and web are right angularly arranged and secured at the juncture of the web and flanges are corrugated flanges 14. These last mentioned flanges are 5 attached to the flanges 12 in any suitable manner at 15 and are arrangedor made secure parallel with said flanges 12. A substantially H-shaped bar is thus provided whose opposite panelways receive the adjacent edges of the panels 10. The flanges 12 and 14 maybe provided with suitable openings for the passage of nails or like fastening devices 16, or the fastening devices may be driven through the flanges. 6
Extending vertically of the walls across the connected edges of the panels are strips 17. These strips extend along the inner face of the wall and are secured thereto by substantially U-shaped brackets 18. These brackets receive the strips and are provided with ears 19, by means of which they are attached. The strips 17 are provided with openings 20 for the these strips in addition to serving as a reenforcing and bracing means for the wall, also act as an anchor for the plaster.
Thetop edge of the wall is provided with a channeled cap 21 whose edges are notched 8 or roughened as at 22 so as to provide anchoring means for the plaster. These caps 21 serve as a support for a floor or ceiling and are provided wlth openings 23 for the passa e of na 1l s for the fastening thereof to each flobr 3 or ceiling.
In Figure 1 of the drawings two walls are shown, one wall being arranged at right angles to the other wall and being provided with a cap 21 along its abutting edge.
The invention is susceptible of various changes in its form, proportions and minor details of construction and the right is herein 7 reserved to make such changes as properly fall withinthe scope of the appended claims. 9
