This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in necktie holders.

An object of the invention is to provide a necktie holder in the form of a rack em- Q bodying a plurality of horizontally swinging arms, pivotally mounted at one end with a latch holder at the other end, each arm be ing provided with a plurality of spring clamps for engaging and suspending neckio ties.

A further object of the invention is to pro vide a necktie holder of the above type wherein the arms carrying the necktie clamps are D arranged in stepped relation downwardly, that is, the arms are offset in a downward direction so that neckties suspended from the clamps will depend in vertical planes without interference from the other rack arms.

A still further object of the invention is to provide a novel form of bracket mounting for the necktie display arms, a plurality of interfitting brackets being provided for the pivoted and latch engaged ends of the arms, the brackets being arranged in an outward downwardly stepped formation.

With the above and other objects in view that will become apparent as the nature of the invention is better understood, the same consists in the novel form, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described, shown in the accompanying drawing and claimed.

Eacn necktie holder or display arm comprises an elongated rod 10 bent at right allgles at one end toprovidea bearing pin ll and carrying over substantially the entire length thereof a plurality of adj acently positioned spring clips 12 having operating fingers 13 and 14, the finger 13 beingri-veted or otherwise secured as at 15 to one side of the rod 10, leaving the finger 14 free for movement for manually opening and closing the clamp 12, this construction and operation being clearly illustrated in Figure 2.

The rOds 10 comprising the necktie holdin arms are supported at opposite ends upon brackets of similar construction differing to the extent of providing pivotal bearings for the bearing pins 11 and latch retainers for the free ends of the rods 10. The brackets are inter-engaging, a plurality of bracket members being provided for each end of the several rods, the assembly including an upper bracket plate 16 and lower bracket plates .17. The lower bracket plates 17, each carry offset upper end extending lugs 18 overlying the lower end of the adjacent bracket plate 17 as shown in Figure 2 with a single fastening screw 19 or the like passed through the lug 18 and associated bracket plate for securing the assembled brackets to a support, the extreme ends of the upper and lower bracket plates being secured to the support by the fastening devices 19a.

The bracket plate assembly for supporting the pivoted ends of the rods 10 is shown more clearly in Figures 3 and 4, the bracket plates 16 and 17, each carrying a bearing socket 20 ofl'set or stepped in a downward direction afforded by the webs 21 on the bracket plates 17 respectively increasing in length downwardly. The bearing pin 11 of the rod 10 is mounted in the socket 20 and being of a diameter slightly less than the diameter of the bore of the bearing socket is permitted limited movement therein so that the free end of the rod might be slightly raised and lowered, the bearing pins being freely rotatable in the sockets.

A support is carried by each bracket plate 16 and 17 for the free ends of the rods 10, the supports 22 respectively increasing in length downwardly and having in their upper sides adjacent their outer ends latch sockets 23 to receive the free ends of the rods 10 and hold them against accidental escape, as will at once be evident from inspecti on of Figure 2.

Neckties are suspended from the rods 10 by the spring clips 12 and are permitted to hang in vertical planes spaced from the necktie supported on adjacent rods by oifsetting the bearing and latch ends of the rods. The rods are freely movable upon their hearing pins 11 by slightly raising the free ends of the rods to displace them from the keeper sockets 23 and in this manner permitting access to the neckties supported on any one of the rods. The bracket assembly is of an extremely compact nature in View of the interfitting relationship between the bracket plates and any number of bracket plates and display rods may be employed.

From the above detailed description of the invention, it is believed that the construction and operation thereof will at once be apparent and while there are herein shown and described the preferred embodiments of the invention, it is nevertheless to be understood that minor changes may be made therein without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.

A necktie holder comprising a plurality of horizontal rods having each a downwardly extending end portion forming a hinge pintle, supporting bracket members for the rods one of said members being composed of separate brackets and having hinge sockets respectively projecting different distances and arranged in step relation, and the other member composed of brackets having arms projecting different distances corresponding to the positions of the first named bracket, and adapted to support the free ends of the rods at different heights and different distances outwardly from a main support.
