This invention relates to improvements in toys and has particular reference to a toy which may be drawn by a child over a surface so as to cause a figure mounted upon the toy to reciprocate and simulate the movements of a horse and rider.
A further object is to produce a toy wherein the horse will rock upon its support and will also rotate about its support a limited distance.
A further object is to produce a toy of this character wherein the same is economical to manufacture.
Other objects and advantages will be ap parent during the course of the following description.
In the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification and in which like numerals are employed to designate like parts throughout the same,

Fig. 2 is a vertical cross section of my toy. The customary figure toy usually rotates about a fixed pivot and therefore does not simulate the action of a bucking horse.
Applicant has provided a vehicle body 5 having wheels 6 which wheels contact a supporting surface such as the floor or ground and serve to rotate an axle 7, having a crank 8. This crank engages the bifurcated end 9 of a lever 11 pivoted as at 12 to a support 13, which support is mounted upon a plate 1 1. Mounted upon the vehicle 5 is a tubular support 16 within which is rotatably mounted a rod 17. A figure such as the body of a horse 18 is pivoted as at 19 to the rod 17, the result being that the body may rotate about the support 16. The lower end of the rod is bent as shown at 21 to prevent the rod from being with-drawn from the support. Legs 22 are pivoted as at 23 to the rear portion of the body and are provided with a pin 24 which moves in a limiting slot 26. A. figure 27 is pivotally supported in a saddle 28 which is mounted upon the body 18. The upper portion of the front legs 29 are rigidly secured to the body while the lower portion 31 is pivoted to the upper portion of the leg. ed to the pivoted arms 34. In order to rock the body portion upon the pivot 19 I provide a rod 36 which is connected to the lever 11 and to a pin 37 secured within the body.
The result of this construction is that as the toy is drawn over a surface the same will be caused to reciprocate about the pivot 19 through the action of the rod 36, lever 11 and crank 8. The gravity will effect the movement of the legs of the horse and also the body of the rider so that the horses movements will simulate a bucking horse. Due to the fact that the rod 17 rotates in its support and because the rod 36 has its lower end hooked or loosely mounted in the lever 11, the horse will move about the pivot, thus simulating a horse in wheeling action, which action is common to bucking horses.
It is to be understood that the'form of my invention herewith shown and described is to be taken as a preferred example of the same and that various changes relative to the ma terial, size, shape and arrangement of parts may be resorted to Without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the subioined claims.
Having thus described my invention, I claim In a device of the character described, a vehicle havinp; supporting wheels, an axle connected thereto and-rotated by said wheels, a lever having a bifurcated end and pivoted to said vehicle, a crank formed in said axle and adapted to be positioned in the bifurcated end of said lever, a tubular support mounted on said vehicle, a rod extending through said support and rotatable therein and having its lower extremity bent to form a stop, a figure simulating the body of an animal pivoted to the upper end of said rod, a link rod connected to said lever and said figure and in parallelism with said first mentioned rod, and adapted to actuate said figure upon movement of said lever and to simultaneously limit the lateral movement of said figure.
