This invention relates to new and useful improvements in a game with sticks.

The invention has for an object the provision of a game of the class mentioned which is of simple durable construction, dependable in use, and which may be manufactured and sold at a reasonable cost.

The invention proposes a pick or lifter for individually lifting a plurality of scrambled sticks of various shapes for representing various royalty and society and constituting different point values in a game prohibiting moving of any of the sticks except the one being lifted, comprising a handle with bottom prongs and a hook supported on said handle.

For further comprehension of the invention, and of the objects and advantages thereof, reference will be had to the following description and accompanying drawing, and to the appended claims in which the various novel features of the invention are more parv ticularly set forth.

The game with the sticks consists of a pick or lifter 10 for individually lifting a plurality of scrambled sticks 11, 12, 13, 14: and 15 of various shapes for representing various royalty and society and constituting enlarged vertical end of the pick difierent point values in the game prohibiting moving of any of the sticks except the one being lifted, and consisting of a handle 16 with bottom prongs 17 18 and 19 and a hook 20 supported on the handle 16.

The stick indicated by reference numeral 11 is called the pope with a valueof thirty-two points and consists of a stem portion 21 integral with an enlarged end 22'having a plurality of grooves 23. The stick indicated by numeral1-2' is called the king and represents a. value of'sixteen points and consists of a stem portion 24 with an enlarged end 25 having side and bottom notches 26. The stick indicated by numeral 13 is a knight and has an eight point value and consists of a stem'por'tion 27 with an enlarged end 28 having a bottom notch 29. Stick '14-. represents a guard with a point value of four and consists of a stem portion 30 with an enlarged end 31 constituting an arrow head. eight guards and thirty-two soldiers. I All of these sticks are thoroughly mixed in a-pile and the game is played by one of the players first attempting to remove the sticks individually from the pile withoutdisturbing and moving any of the other sticks. This -removal'inust be accomplished with the pick or lifter 10. During the lifting, if any of the other sticks move, the player is counted 1 out and the next player attempts to remove the sticks. The winner who successfully picks o'ifthe sticks having the highest total scoring values.

-.The said hook'20 has a stem portion 20 extending thru. a longitudinal hollow in the handle 16 and projecting from the top end. A coaxial spring 32 is arranged upon the stem portion of the hook and one end acts against the handle portion 16 and the other end in dicatedbynumeral 33 is attached upon the stem portion so as to normally urge the hook downwards. The stem portion of the hook is formed with a plurality of transverse apertures 3 1 and a pin 35 engages one of these apertures for limiting downward motion of the hook. The top of the handle 16 is formed with aplurality ofradial slots 36 for receiving the pin 35 and holding the hook in various rotative adjusted positions. A skillful player knows exactly how to adjust the hook 20 for coacting with a particular prong on the handle for the successful removing of the different sticks from the pile. The various sticks may be removed in various ways depending upon the skill of the player as for example, by proper balancing of the stick being lifted, or pushing, or the like.

IVhile I have shown and described the preferred embodiment of my invention, it is to be understood that I do not limit myself to the precise construction herein disclosed and the right is reserved to all changes and modifications coming within the scope of the invention as defined in the appended claims.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by United States Letters Patent is j 1. In. a pick for individually lifting a plurality of scrambled sticks, a handle having a longitudinal hollow portion, a hook having a stem portion engaging through and extending from said hollow portion, and means for urging said hook downwards.

In a pick for individually lifting a plurality of scrambled sticks, a handle having a longitudinal hollow portion, a hook having a stem portion engaging through and extend ing from said hollow portion, and means for urging said hook downwards, comprising a spring acting between the handle and the stem portion of the hook.

3. In a pick for individually lifting a plurality of scrambled sticks, a handle having a longitudinal hollow porti0n,'a hook having a stem portion engaging through and extending from said hollow portion, means for urging said hook downwards, and means for limiting the downward motion of the hook.

In a pick for individually lifting a plurality of scrambled sticks, a handle having a longitudinal hollow portion, a hook having a stem portion engaging through and extending from said hollow portion, means for urging said hook downwards, and means for limiting the downward motion of the hook, comprising a peg engageable in one of a plurality of apertures formed in the portion of the stem which extends from the handle.

In a pick for individually lifting a plurality of scrambled sticks, a handle having a longitudinal hollow portion, a hook having astem portion engaging through and extending from said hollow portion, means for urging said hook downwards, and means for holding the hook in various adjusted rotative positions.
