This invention relates to a holder for paper bags and the like, the general object of the invention being to provide a rotatable frame havinga number of spring actuated bag holding members pivoted thereto for holding the bags in such a manner that a single bag can be withdrawn from a pile of such bags placed in each holder, with means whereby the pile of bags can be easily and quickly placed in the holder.
This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated 16 in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claims.
In describing the invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which:

. In these drawings, the numeral 1 indicates the base of the device to which is connected a stationary ball race 2 by the bolt 3 and the lower end of a rod 4 is threaded into said race. Vertically arranged wires 15' have their upper ends connected with the frame 12, intermediate portions connected withthelower frame 12 and the lower ends connected with the band 10. Thus I have provided an open work frame of rectangular shape in cross section which is rotatably supported on the A bag-holder A is pivotally connected to each member of each of the frames 12 by having eyes 16 formed at the upper ends of the limbs thereof through which a member of each frame 12 passes. A spring 17 car-- ried by each frame 12 engages the limbs of each-holder A and acts to hold the same or the bags therein, against the wires 15. a
Each member A, preferably formed of a single piece of wire, is bent to form the substantially U-shaped pair of horizontally extending members 18, the outer limbs of which are connected to the vertical limbs 19 of the holder and their inner limbs are connected together by a small inverted U shaped part 20 which is vertically arranged and acts to engage the lower end of the outermost bag of arpile of bags placed on the members 18. v
Intermediate thelends of the limbs 19 are formed horizontal arms 21 which are formed, 0. by looping the wire upon itself as shown best in Figure 4:. These arms 21 and the members 18 extend inwardly into the frame when the holder is pressed inwardly by the spring 17 and when the holder is empty the bight of .5V the part20 will engage one of the wires which limits inward movement of the holder.
A wire 22 connects the limbs 19 ofeach holder together slightly above the arms 21 and this wire also engages the outermost 0 sides of the piles placed in the holder as. shown in Figure As shown in Figures 1,
2 and 3, .there are four holders at the top of the device and four holders at the bottom thereof, and I prefer to make these holders 95. of difi'erent' sizes so as to holddifferent sizes ofbagsl' a As shown in Figure 1,'the holder is pulled outwardly so that a pile of bags, shown in dotted lines in Figure 1 can be placed therel9 in, and then when the holder is released the i spring will move the holder inwardly so that the members 20 and 22 will hold the bags againstthe wires 15. When it is desired to secure a bag it is simply necessary to seize the top or outermost bag and pull the same upwardly to release it fromthe, holder.
As shown the upper portions of the limbs 19 are bent inwardly as shown at 19 so that. f
the holder can hold a greaternumber of bags than if the limbs were straight. By rotat-y ably supporting the device on the base-it can I be turned to bring the bags of the desired size to a position where a bag can taken from its holder.
It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of the invention will be readily apparent' It isto be understood that changes may be made in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts provided thatsuch changes fall within the scope of the appended claims.
I clalm 1. A bag holder of the class described com-" prising a base, a frame rotatably supported thereby and a plurality of spring-pressed bag holders pivotally connected with the frame, each holder consisting of a pair of limbs the upper ends of which are pivotally connected with the frame, a pair of inwardly extending horizontally arranged U-shaped members, the outer limbs of which are connected with the first mentioned limbs and an 35 inverted vertically arranged U-shaped member'conneoting the ends of the inner'limbs together and extending upwardly.
2. A bag holderof the class described comprising a support, a frame of rectangular shape in cross section rotatably supported on; the support, aplurality of holders pivotally connected with the frame and each consisting of a pair of vertical limbs, a pair of horizontally arranged U-shaped members f the outer limbs of which are connected with the lower ends of. the first mentioned limbs, an inverted U-shaped member vertically arranged andhaving its limbs connected to the ends of the inner limbs of said U-shaped members, an inwardly extending arm on each first-mentioned limb intermediate the ends of the limb, the upper ends of the first men tioned limbs being pivoted to the frame, said frame having members against which the holder presses the bag, and a cross member connecting the upper parts of the first mentionedlimbs of the holder together, and
spring means tending to move theholder toward the frame.
