To discharge the mixed aggregate from the cylinder while the cylinder remains in a substantially horizontal position, and is rotated to cause the conveying of the material toward the rear end wall 10, I provide a trough or chute 23 mounted to pivot on a horizontal axis between the free ends of arms 24 pivotally mounted at corresponding ends tothe cradle frames. A member 25 extending upwardly alongside of cylinder V7 isprovided with arm supporting stops 26 for supporting the arms 24 in either of three positionstindicated at -B-C-Fig. 1. A spring held chute in'position E, the chute being inclinedV downwardly into thev opening 11 ywith its end extended thereinto. To convey the mixture from the cylinder Vwhile the sameis in a substantially horizontal position, it is. iirst necessary to operate the power take-oit to rotate the cylinder so thatworm 22 conveys the material toward the rear end of thecylinder. During this operation, the arms 24 are moved to position C and chute 23v is adjusted to position F, the same assuming a downward inclination from the rear of the'cyiinder, ywith the inner end'of the chute extended a1 distance intotheopening to receive the material as 1t is picked vup by screw 22 and drops vertically therefrom across the opening. Y ,ltr will -be apparent that the discharge of the material from the cylinder is "accomplishedwhile the same is in a substantially horizontalposition and 'without inclining the same rearwardly; also that the cylinder is rotated in either or both of two directions duringthe agitating or mixing of the material; also that the chute is movable to afford a means for filling the cylinder as well as removing material therefrom. f c
:In the Fig. 4 disclosure, the end of the cylinder 7 is of conical formation provided with an opening 29 adaptable for closing byv a removable cover 30. The spiral conveyer on the interior of the cylinder terminates adjacent to the opening 29 in relatively deep wide trough shaped blades 3l, disposed at a suii- `cient angle that when the cylinder is rotating in discharger direction, the aggregate picked up by said blades will slide longitudinaliy thereof and discharge from the cylinder through the opening 29when the cover 30 isremoved. This type of structure enables the trough shaped blades to discharge the material through the opening and clear of the mixer automatically and while the cylinder is in horizontal position. However, if it is so desired, the chute 23 or similar structure mayV be provided to convey the discharged aggregate to anysuitable point.
The cylinder may be constructed with a plurality of nspiral conveyers 32 and 33,
pitched iii-opposite-directions and arranged' conveys it in another direction. Thus the aggregate is moving ina plurality of direc-y tions longitudinally of the cylinder, regard less of its direction of rotation, and when the cylinder is rotating in a direction for the lspiral to convey the aggregate toward the discharge opening, this movement will be` readily accomplished. The conveying of the-` aggregate from the Adischarge opening will gradually reduce thev volume thereof within the cylinder until its level will be at afpoint below the actionof. the conv'eyer 32.
