I i I ing to provide acompartment 18 into'which Myinvention relates to a new and useful water may be delivered by the pipe 19 which improvement in a heating apparatus adaptm and a compact, durable structure provided; the-distribution of the heat byconvection. 60' 1 Another object of the invention is the pro- The tubes are-traversed by the water vision in an apparatus of this class of means tubes 24:. The pipe 19 is connected through for humidifying the air which is'circulated the T '25 tothe pipe 26 to the hot water and heated. r heater :2? whichis in the nature of a gas hot ,5 15 Another object of the invention is the pro' water heater, the gas pipe 28 being illus- 65 vision of an apparatus in which a maximum trated' as located inthe customary position heating area is presented to the air whichis on such heaters. The hot water pipe 29 leads being circulated. I from the hot water heater and communicates Other objects will appear hereinafter. with the compartment 18. A gauge glass 30 The invention. consists in the combinais-connected with the compartment18so as 70 7 :tion and arrangement of parts hereinafter to indicate the amount of water in the comdescribed and claimed. partment l8.
The inventionwill be best understood by A steam blow-off valve 31' is connected in a reference to the accompanying drawings communication with'the compartment 1 8. which form a part of this specification, and above the normal water level by the pipe 32. in which, A'by-pass 33 connects the pipe 32 with the air Fig. 1 is a side elevational view of the ininlet pipe 12 so as to humidify the air which vention. is delivered intoitheinteriorof the" shell 11. Fig. 2 is a central vertical sectional view A corrugated covering'3et is provided for of the invention. three sides of'the outer shell 10, these corriu s0 ed for use in heating buildings and the like in which hot air may be produced by bringing the same into contact with steam heated bodies and bodies heated by hot water.
It isanobject of the present invention to provide an apparatus of this class in which a force circulation of airflwould be effected Fig. 3 is a sectional View taken on line as of Fig-2.
Fig. 4 is a fragmentary sectional view of the invention illustrating the humidifier.
In the device I provide supporting legs 9 which serve to support the superstructure f comprising an outer shell or housing 10. en-
shell or housing 11 which closing an inner is positioned Withinand spaced from the is a blower pipe outer shell or housing? Communicating'with the interior of the inner housing or shell 11 12 which is connected to the blower 1 3 driven by the electric motor 14: and
, which serves to deliver to the interior of the inner shell or hous ng 11 a quantity of air. A plurality space separating the inner housing and the outer housing. A top 16 and a bottom 17 servesto close the space between the inner shell or housing and the outer shell or hous of tubes 15'project through the is connected by the pipe20 through the valve 21 to a suitable sourceof water supply. The
sired location. 7
37, fromwhich leads the i 39 supported by the brackets 40 may be used' c as an auxiliary heater.
It is obvious that a simple and compact structure is provided whereby a hot air heats ing system is established with the use of hot water as the heating agent.
When desired, an electric heating element While I have illustrated and described the preferred form of construction of my invention, I do not wish to limit myself to the precise details of structure shown, but desire to avail myself of such variations and modifications as may come within the scope of the appended claims.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is: V V
1. A heater of the class described, comprising: an inner shell; an outer shell spaced from and enclosing said inner shell; a plurality of tubes traversing said inner shell and communicating at opposite ends with the space between said inner shell and said outer shell; conduits extending through the space 7 between said inner shell and said outer shell and communicating with the interior of said inner shell and the exterior of said outer shell; a plurality of pipes communicating with the space between said inner shell and said outer shell and traversing said conduits; and means for delivering air into the interior of said inner shell.
2. A heater of the class described, comprising: an inner shell; an outer shell spaced from the enclosing said inner shell; a plurality of tubes traversing said inner shell and communicating at opposite ends with the space between said inner shell and said outer shell; conduits extending through the space between said inner shell and said outer shell and communicating with the interior of said inner shell and the exterior of said outer shell; a plurality of pipes communicating with the space between said inner shell and said outer shelland traversing said conduits; means for delivering air into the interior of said inner shell; means for delivering hot water into the space between said shells; a cover for said outer shell and providing there- 'with a plurality of vertically extended passages; and a hood covering said shells and said passages.
In testimony whereof I have signed the 5 foregoing specification.
MARLIN WARREN.
