UNITED STATES CHARLES SPONSEL, OFMANCOS, COLORADO HYroDEnMIo KIT Application filed December 17,VA 1928. Serial N'o. 326,541.
This invention relates to a kit containing a hypodermic syringe, a serum bottle, a con-` tainer for disinfectants and a container for disinfectant solutions. This group forms a convenient little package that may be carried in a small space, or even in the vest pocket, for use on ranches for the treatment of infected cattle, or as a preventive measure.
The purpose of the syringe is to carry just enough for one treatment and is to be filled after each treatment; the disinfectants are for the purpose of properly disinfecting the tube or needle of the syringe. l The serum bottle contains the serum to be used in the treatment of the cattle.
While this package is particularly designed for use on ranches in the treatment of cattle, a similar package might be used for treatment of human beings, with necessary modifications as to the contents of the packgThere is shown in the accompanying drawings a preferred embodiment of this invention.
Referring to the drawings:
Figure l is a front view of the package with the lid open, showing the contents in dotted lines.
Figure 2 is a top plan view of the package with the lid folded back.
Figure 3 is similar to Figure 2, with the contents removed.
Figure 4 is a cross section on the line t-Li of Figure 2. V
Figure 5 is a section on the line 5-5 of Figure 2.
The numeral l indicates a container, which may be made of sheet metal, tin or even paper, the only requisite being that it should be rigid and have enough body to support the contents. rectangular in shape, having a lid adjacent the top to form a closure therefor. The front part of the upper part of the body of the package is cut away so as to provide space for ready access to the contents of the case or package.
The cut away part of the package is indicated by the numeral 2, and the corresponding extended part of the lid is indicated by j This package is more or less ,the numeral 3, and the point of connection between the lid and the body part, which has a hinge, is indicated bythe numeral 4.
For the purpose of making the corners smooth and easy to fit within the pocket they are rounded as indicated by the numeral 5.
For thefpurpose of locking the'closure or 11d to the box member there is provided on the lid a suitable opening'G, which engages a corresponding projection 7 on the front part of the box to hold the lid in engagement with the box to close the contents within the box. All that is necessary to do to open the package is to press upon the container, just below the lock, and the snaps will become released.
This little package or container is divided essentially into three compartments. This division is eected by a single piece of'material, the same as that of which the body of i the container is composed. The main part of the partition that separates the container into compartments is indicated by the numeral 8, and is arranged vertically and crosswise of the box from the lefthand side to substantially the center of the box, a little forward of the center from the back to the front. This partition does not extend to the bottom of the box; neither does it extend to the top, as is clearly indicated in Figure 1.
At the point where the partition 8 ends the partition piece is bent back to form a second partition V 9. -This partition separates the compartment that contains the serum from the compartment that contains the disinfectant solution. The partition 8 separates the container-for-the disinfectant solution from the container for theV disinfectant and the hypodermic needle.
Extending from the point where the parl tition9 branches'off from the partition 8 is a forwardly projecting part of the 'partition 10. This part of the partition is circular and partakes of the shape of the container in that part of the package. The partition extends about one-half of the depth` of the package; for about one-fourth the depth of the container there is no partition; then for about two-fourths there is a partition; then for the other one-fourth up to the top there is no partition. By this means there is formed a structure'l having three compartments, one in which there is the serum bottle; another in which there is the disinfectant solution and another in which there is the disinfectant and the hypodermic syringe.
The hypodermic syringe-,is shown -in Figures 2 and 4 in position in the package. The needle part of the hypodermic syringe is placed and lits in a slit in a false bottom 11. The hole in which this -needle part l@tithe hypodermic syringe ts is indicated -by Athe numeral 12. This false bottom is attached near the lower edge ofthe partitions and is horizontal with the bottom of the case, or
container.
The needle part of the hypodermic syringe is indicated by `the numeral 13, while .theV
handle part is indicated by the numeral 14. The handle part protects .a bulb member 15. This bulbis ofrubberandmayzbe compressed and expanded for the purpose of ,receiving the Aserum'intowthe .needle Land .rejecting the serumtherefrom. The purpose -ofithezneedle is to open -the skin .oit the animal for :the reception oit' the serum 4in the treatment. The serum bottle is indicated by fthe numeral 16, while the .container :for Athe disinfectant is indicated bythe numeral l17, and Ithe .container for the disinfectant solution is .indicated by the numeral 18.
It 'is veryv obvious that applicant has proided a simple and convenient device of this (ind. i
I .desire .to comprehend Awithin my invention such'modificationsasmay beolearly embraced within my claims and the scopeotmy invention.
Having thus :fully ldescribed my iinven'tion, what I claim is new .and desire fto `secure by Letters -Patentyis: Y
- l. :In a medical .case havin-g v-a bottom, .-a one-piece parti-tion 'in said case cooperating with the walls of said case ytofform a plurality of compartments, one 1in one end and twovin the-other` end of thecase, tand-asecond bottom inv one of said compartments integral f 'with the partition to supportav hypodermic syringe.
