Thisfinventionfrelates to hangers and presses for garments such as coats and trousers, and has for-its object generally, the

In order to collapse or fold the device for packing in a suitcase or elsewhere, the rod 15 is lowered in the guide members 9, and thecollars 17 brought inwards through the enlargements 11 in said members to enable the rod 15 to be accommodated in the hollow upper edge 1 of the bar 1, following which the stays 13 are disengaged from the members 9, and dropped between the centre bar 1 and the short bar 5.

Thisleavesthe members9 free to be turned down one over the other on top of the bar 1 with the rod 15 therein, the hanger 20 then. being collapsed and accommodated between the bars 1 and 4E. L Y

Upon the wing nuts 6 and 7 being tightened and a securing band 22 placed around the folded device, the latter is in, the form of a compact package, as shown in Fig. 3, capable of being easily stowed in a suitcase or the like without taking up undue space, or materially increasing the weight thereof.

In the modification illustrated in Figs. and 6, the slotted guide members 9'are formed of wire and each member hasat itslower end an arm 23 adapted when the member is brought to the open or extended position, to engage in a spring catch 22 on the centre bar 1, for the purpose of retaining the memher in such open or extendedposition.

Also each wire member 9 has formed in its upper or outer end an inward bend or kink 24, in which eyebolts 25 swivelable in the ends of the rod 15 carrying the roller 16 an d slidable on the wireof the members 9, are adapted to rest, in order to maintain the rod and roller at the outer ends of-the members 9, when placing trousers over said rod and roller. V

The chains 18 of the hanger 20 are attached to the eyebolts 25', and upon the device being hung by the hook 21, said ey-ebolts pass upwards into corners 26 of the members 9, and cause a tension to be placed on the trousers which are folded over the rod 15 and roller 16 and gripped by the clamping bars 1, 4 and 5.

Owing to the eyebolts 2-5 swivelling in the 9 ends of the rod 15 the latter canbe dropped into the hollow upper edge 1 of the bar-1, and

the members 9 folded thereoverwithout disconnecting the rod from said members.

A device for the purpose set forth comprisingclamping means for articles to be pressed, guide members to be extended from said clamping means, a rod over which articles gripped by said means. are folded adapted to be moved and held in said guide members to stretch said articles, collars upon said rods, a hanger upon which other articles can be placed attached to said rod for suspending the device and its load, said hanger being collapsible and detachably connected with the rod by short lengths of chain engagingrings in the collars upon the rod end. 3. A device of theclass described comprising clamping means forarticles to be pressed and stretched, guide members adapted to be extended from said clamping means, a rod overwhich articles gripped by said means are folded, said rod being adapted to be moved and held in said guide members to stretch said articles, a hanger upon which other articles may be placed attached to said rod for suspending the device and its load, said guide members being slotted to receive the end of saidrod and said guide members containing recesses for receiving the rod end, collars upon the ends of said rods to maintain saidguide members and rod in position and also enlargements in said slotted guide members through which said collars on the rod can be passed.

A device of the classdescribed comprising clamping means for articles'to be pressed and stretched, guide'members adapted to be extended from said clamping means, a rod over which articles gripped by said means are folded, said. rod being adapted to be moved and'held in said guide members to stretch said articles, a hanger upon which other articles may be placed attached to said rod for suspending the device and its load, said guide members being hinged to said clamping means to fold over the same and staysto hold said guide members in their open or extended positions.
