EARBINGTON, associates; imommzf BLUE FLAME e4 i Application filed March sf This invention relates to gas burners particularly intended to burn natural gas, and especially represents improvements over the structure shown in my co-pending applica- 5 tion forpatent, Serial No. 416,401, filed December 26, 1929; the present burner'being of the same general character and being intended to bemounted in the firebox of a coal or wood range the same as the previous one. in The previous burner however was arranged so thatthe air was mixed with the gas only as the latter issued from theinner end of the burner, the air being taken from the supply in the firebox passing up through the grate i5 below. This mixture created a yellow or straw-colored flame, which to some authorities is objectionable. I I V The principal'object of the present inven tion isto modify the burner arrangement so 2 thatwhile the air still freely surrounds the inner end of the burner and may mixwith the gas as it issues, said gas is initially mixed with air while still enclosed in the burner, so that the so-called blue flame is created. I have also arranged for the air to thusmix with the gas insuch amanner that ablue flame of greaterheatvalue will be provided than is hadwith theordinary mixing device it commonly used on gas burners. j A further objectofthe invention is to prov duce asimple and inexpensive device and yet I one which will be exceedingly effective for i the purpose for which it is designed. j These objects I accomplish by means parts as will fully appear bya perusal following specification and claims.
