This invention relates to an improved cufi' or sleeve protector to be used on the arms for protecting the sleeves or the arms, the ob ject being to provide an improved, simplified structure which may be readily applied and readily removed;

Another object of the present invention is to provide a cuff which may be readily adjusted to different sized arms;

A further object is to provide a simple, strong and effective cufi formed of paper or other comparatively stiff material, cut to provide a tongue and a plurality of coacting slots whereby the cuff bottom may be folded and disengageably secured together;

A still further object of the invention is to provide a simple, strong, effective and which lends itself readily as an advertising medium by reason of its shape and the exposed surface which may be seen when the article is in use.

In the accompanying drawings Figure 1 is a fragmentary view of an arm with a cuff embodying the invention shown applied thereto;

Figure 2 is a transverse sectional view through the cuff disclosing the invention, a section through the cuff being indicated by the line 2-2 of Figure 1;

Figure 3 is a plan of the cuff blank shown in Figure 1.

Referring to the drawings by numerals, 1 indicates the body of the cuff which is provided with curved upper and lower edges 2 and 3 which cause the cuff to conform to the shape of the wrist and arm and to present a pleasing appearance. The edge 4 is provided with a pressed-out portion 5 which is preferably positioned centrally of the blank, as shown in Figure 3, and normally facing towards the center of the blank. The end 5' is provided with curved slots, or rather curved slits, 7 and 8, said slits being parallel and of a size to receive the tongue 5 at difi ferent times. This arrangement is to permit adjustment to the effective size of the cuff, or rather, the effective diameter thereof when in use.

It will be noted that the side edges of the ends 4 and 6 are slightly rounded but are positioned so as to indicate a taper at the respective ends of the blank. The position of the tongue 5 and the slits 7 and 8 is inclined from a line drawn either transversely or horizontally through the blank.

This arrangement causes the edge 3 to present a smaller diameter than the edge 2 when the cuff is in assembled position, as shown in Figure 1.

While the cuff may be used for any desired purpose in any desired manner in protecting sleeves, arms and the like, another important feature is the provision of the spaces 9 and 10, 11 and 12, which are so located as to provide compartments or sections adapted to receive advertising matter and ornamental members for setting off the advertising matter and emphasizing the same. When in use the section 9 and a large part of the remaining sections are exposed to view so that the article would present a pleasing appearance and one wherein the advertising features are prominently brought to view.

I claim- 1. A cuff comprising a body having generally parallel side edges and end edges positioned on converging lines, said body having a tongue pressed therefrom at one end extending inwardly, the longitudinal axis of the tongue being substantially parallel with the end edge of the body near which it is positioned and the transverse axis being on a central line drawn through the blank, a plurality of parallel slits at the opposite end positioned midwa between the side edges of the body, said slits being substantially parallel with the edge adjacent which they are positioned whereby when said tongue is positioned in either of said slits the body will present a substantially cone shaped tubular member.

2. A cufi body of flexible material adapted to be rolled into a substantially frusto-cone, said body having a group of slits adjacent one end, each of said slits being substantially parallel to said end and midway between the side edges of the body, a tongue at the opposite end of the body extending inwardly, said tongue being spaced inwardly from said opposite end and being positioned to fit into any of said slits when the body is rolled into a frusto-cone.
