This invention relates to improvements in safety razors, and more particularly to an improved electrically operated safety razor.
An object of the invention is to rovide an improved electric safety razor, which will be operated from the alternating current used for house lighting, and which will be'air cooled, so that the same will not over heat when used for a considerable length of time.

A still further object of the invention is towprovide an improved form of air cooled electrically operated safety razor; which will be highly efi. ient in use and which will be quite inexpensive to manufacture. Another object of the invention is to provide an improved air cooled electrically operated safety razor which will be adapted to receive a blade in such a manner that the edges i or ends of the same will be positively protected should the razor fall on to the floor,

ln carrying out my invention, I provide a head member 1 provided with a centrally disposed axial bore 2 and an integrally formed hollow core 3 which is externally threaded at 4 adjacent the said head member 1. The
core 3 is further provided with a plurality of longitudinally extending integrally formed cooling fins 5, which serve to assist in. the cooling of the said safety razor.
An operating pin (ids pivoted at 7 in the bore 2 of the head member 1 and extends slightly above the upper or outer surface thereof at one end, and is reduced at its'opposite end. A coil tensioning spring 8 is positioned within a passage -formed in the head member 1, and serves to hold the operating pin 6 in one position when the razor is not in operation. A screw 9 in the outer end of the said passage is adapted to regulate. the tension on the coil spring as'desired; A pair of blade positioning studs 10 are positioned on the upper surface of the headmember lat opposite sides of the pin 6, and are formed with annular. seats 11 adjacent their outer extremities.
A-blade 12, similar to the so called new Gillette type wil be positioned over the pin rapidly backwards "and forwards along the upper surface of the head member 1, within the limits of the seats 11 on the studs 10.
The cap member 13 is formed with oppositely disposed bearing seats 14 adaptedto engage with and guide t-he upper opposite edgesof the blade 12. Positioning lugs or raised areas 15 are formed at the four corners of the cap member 13, and serve to positively position the blade 12 in its proper position when the cap member is placed upon the head member. Key-slots 16 are. formedin the under surface of the cap member 13, and are adapted to engage the annular seats 11 on the studs 10 to lock the cap member cap member 13 to permit the free and un restricted movement of the operating pin 6.
An induction coil 18 serving as the operating means is adapted to be received within the hollow core 3, and is provided. with a core 19 which will be received within the axial bore 2"in the head member 1, to intermittently attract the reduced end of the operating pin 6, when the coil is connected with a source of alternating current supply. It will be obvious that the spring 8 will intermittently force the said reduced end of the operating pin 6-away from the core of the coil, whereupon the magnetism created in the core will again attract the reduced end of the pin to it. In this manner the blade will be reciprocated back and forth at a high rate of speed. A positioning pin'20 extends from the side of the coil 18 and cooperates with a slot 21 in the hollow core 3.
A. hollow handle 22 is internally threaded at 23 and is adapted to thread on to the extcrnal threads 4 on the hollow core 3, thereby holding the several parts ofthe razor in position. The ferrule 24 hereinafter termed the locking ferrule, is rovided with a slot 25 which engages the pm 20, and is further provided with a locking slot 26 for a cable terminal 27 which may be readily inserted within the open lower end of the handle 22. The said handle 22 is provided with an inwardly directed flange 28 which engages the lower end of the locking ferrule 24.- when the handle is threaded upon the hollow core 8. A plurality of air openings 29 and 80, respectively, are formed through the'wall of the handle at the inner end and through the flange 28,- so that air may circulate through the hollow handle and over the cooling this 5, thereby dissipating any heat generated within the razor while being operated.
It will be apparent that the several partscomprising my improved razor are so constructed that they may be readily taken apart .for cleaning.
Many minor changes in detail of construction may be resorted to without departure from the spirit of the invention.
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is:
an in uction coil in said hollow core, resilient means for intermittently forcing the operating pin away from said coi, a handle threaded upon said hollow core in spaced relation to said cooling fins and provided with a plurality of air inlet passages at its opposite ends.
2. An electrically operated safety razor comprising a head member having an axial bore formed therethrough, a hollow core depending from said head member, a cap memer detachably secured to said head member, blade engaging means on said head member, means on said blade engaging means for permitting reciprocatory movement of a blade along said head member, a blade shiftably mounted between said head and cap members, an operating pin pivotally mounted within the axial bore in the head member and engageable with said blade, resilient means carried in the head member for urging said pin towards one position, an induction coil positioned 'within said hollow core terminating adjacent said operating pin adapted to move the same in the opposite direction, cooling fins on said hollow core, and a ventilated handle removably secured about said hollow core and coolin fins.
3. The subject matter as clailne in claim 2, and means on said handle for locking said coil in the hollow core.
