Beneath the central body portion 1, sai-d bracket is cut away in its forward face to provide a second relatively shallow section 8, bounded vertically by a pair of inwardly directed, overhanging flanges 9, and in one lateral direction terminating in a forwardly extending flange 10. This bracket, while suliicient to support the cigarette holder and ash receiver upon a vertical surface,'may also be provided with a forwardly extending base portion 11, whereby said bracket may take the form of a stand if desired, in order that it may rest in operative position upon any suitable supporting` surface, such as upon an article of furniture or the like.
Slidably positioned against the lower shallow section 8 and between the overhanging lianges29iis the rear wall 12 of anV ash receiver, which also comprises a bottom 13, end walls 14, and a forward wall 15 which has its upper central portion cut away at 16 to pro vide a space for manually gripping a cigarette while resting within the cutout regions 17 in the upper portions of the end walls 14. The upper portion of the rear wall 12 of the ash receiver terminates in a forwardly'ex-` tending abbreviated top wall 13 of a depth preferably equal to substantially the diameter of a cigarette, so that a cigarette resting within said cutout regions 17 of said end walls also rests against said top 18 in order to minimize the possibility of ones breaking the cigarette when reaching for it during the rapid movement of a vehicle in which the device may be mounted. In order to removably secure the ash receiver in operative position, its under surface at any suitable point is provided with a recess orV the like 19, adapted to be engaged by any suitable form of catch or latch such for instance as the springpressed ball 20.
Removably positioned adjacent tothe upper portion 2 of said bracket and slidable between the flanges 3 and 4 is a cigarette holder, which vis shown as comprising an imperforate rear wall 24,; end walls and 26, rand a top wall 27, to which is secured a three-sided undercut molding or beading -28 for operatively positioning a double faced file or other form of abrasive element 29,
having beveled ends, normally entering be-` neath the undercutportions of said molding. To the forward edge portion of the box end 25 there 1s pivotally secured at 30 a clof sure 31, surrounded ou its other three sides by a flange comprising sections 32, 33 and 34, and also provided with a vertically elongated aperture 35 through which the contents of the holder are at all times visible,
said aperture being' effectively closed by a r transparent medium 36 held in operative position in any suitable manner.
The lower portion of the holder is vprovided with a discharge aperture 37 defined upon the rearby a flange 38, forming a continuation ofthe rear wall 24 and between which there extends diagonally a slanting wall 39. The forward portion of said discharge aperture 37 is normally defined by the lowermost flange or section 34 of the closure 31, said flange and closure being connected together by a diagonally extending wall 40, correspondingto the wall 39, and between which is rotatably positioned a cylindrical ejecting member 41, provided with any desired number of parallel semi-cylindrical grooves or recesses 42, adapted ywhen in uppermost position to receive cigarettes 43 by gravity from withinthe holder and upon being inverted to discharge such cigarettes, one at the time, from said holder through the discharge aperture 37, whence the discharged cigarette falls upon and is supported by the cutout portions 17 of the end walls 14 and rests against the top wall 18 of the ash receiver, until Vthe cigarette is manually removed from that position.
The ejecting member 41 is rotatably mounted in any suitable manner, but is preferably carried by a pintle 44 secured to said ejecting means and passes rotatably through the wall 25 of said holder, and is provided with a second pintle 45 which passes rotatably through the opposite end wall 26 and through a reinforcing disc 46 secured thereto and provided with 'diametrically oppositely positioned recesses 47 for the yielding reception of a spring-pressed ball or the like 48, carried by and extending from within a hollow preferably cylindrical and externally knurled knob'49 which affords a suitable means for rotating or oscillating said ejecting means. This knob is secured upon Vthe pintle 45 in any suitable manner as for instance by means of the threaded nut 50, the outer free end of said knob being normally closed by means of an externally threaded plug 51. which is removably secured within said knob in order to complete a housing for spare flints 52 and absorbent discs 53, as well as an extra wick if desired.
The end'wall 26 of the holder is furthermore provided with `a unitary cup-shaped projection 54, fromY which extends a resilient linger 55, adapted to frictionallyengage the adjacent portionof the flange 33 of the closure 31 to yieldingly retain said closure in operative position.
