The invention relates to new means to be used for advertising purposes and it consists substantially in employing for the said purpose a bomb of paper or the like con- 5 taining the advertising material and adapted to be thrown into the air, for example by the aid of a bombard or the like, the bomb being provided with a fuse and an explosive charge so that on being thrown into the air it will explode at a suitable height above ground and the advertising material contained therein, such as leaflets, patterns and the like, will fall onto the public and thus form an immediate and most eflicacious advertisement.

The height at which the bomb is caused to explode may be set by the aid of the detonator fuse or in other suitable ways, according to circumstances.

The invention will be described with reference to the accompanying drawings wherein Fig. 1 is a sectional view of the bomb,

Fig. 2 is a side View of the bombard and Fig. 3 is a longitudinal section thereof.

The bombard 1 is mounted on a cradle 2 so as to be able to take up any desired inclination, and it is provided with a threaded breech end 3 through which the bomb is introduced into the bombard so that its wick 4.- extends to the outside.

The bomb comprises a member 5 of paper which covers the bottom 6 of the body of the bomb. Between the two members 5 and 6 of the bomb is arranged an explosive charge 7 which is traversed by the wick 4 and which serves to expel the bomb from the bombard. The wick 4 ends in a detonator fuse 8 secured to the bottom member 6 and which may be set so as to explode an explosive charge 9 when the bomb has reached the desired height. A movable bottom 10 divides the explosive charge 9 from the advertising material 11 contained in the bomb which is closed at the front end by a movable disc 12 held in place by a cover 13 made of paper.

When the bomb has been thrown into the air by the bombard and the explosive charge 9 explodes, the bottom 6 is pushed downward and the cover 13 is torn so that the disc 12 uncovers the bomb and the contents of the bomb, such as leaflets or the like, are allowed to fall down onto the public in the neighbourhood of the bombard, the attentlon of the public having previously been attracted by the explosion.

These new means may be used preferably where there are large crowds and no harm can come neither to the persons nor to the objects in the neighbourhood.

It is evident that the invention may be realized in many other ways within the limits of the following claim.

What I claim is:

A bomb adapted to distribute advertising material when projected into the air comprising a main cylindrical body adapted to contain advertising material, a time fuse inserted in the bottom of the cylindrical .body, an explosive charge at the bottom of the said body, a partition disk of paper above the said explosive charge, advertising material in the said body above the partition disk, a disk of paper above the advertising material and closing the mouth of the main body, a paper cover for the closing disk, a movable bottom beneath the advertising material, a main body projecting charge between the said bottom and the movable bottom, and a fuse string leading from the time fuse outwardly, through the projecting charge.
