The lock includes a pivoted. padlock shackle 17, a door lock bolt 18 and a trunk lock bolt ,19. all three of which are controlled by a single locking element 20.

To permit of the removal of the shackle 17 from the lock casing 10. when so desired, the pin 22 may be removed, thus releasing and permitting withdrawal of the tremity of the shackle.
Theside wall of the-easing 10 opposite the shackle 1f7 is. provided with slots 26a shown in the lower portiony of Fig. 3 for accommodating the loops 26 of the trunk lock keeper 27 which, when inserted insaid slots, are engaged by the bolts 19 of the locking element 9 d The intermediate, portion ot the locking i bei pivoted cxelement 2O is adapted to cooperate with the door locking bolt 18 and is connected therewith at will by a pin 28 passing through the aperture 29 in the element 20 yand a registering aperture 30 in the` bolt 18 whereby movement of the element 2Ov is transmitted to the bolt 18. .Said bolt is provided with a second aperturel which, `in the retracted position of the bolt, registers with a recess in the wall 11 of the casing and upon insertion of thepin28 locks said bolt in inoperative position and, said pin having been removed fromV the element 20, permits free movement of the Wall 15 and is provided with a lug 36 having an aperturetherein adapted to receive the pin projection 37 of the element 20 whereby when thelatter is inoperative or locking position the cover 16 isflocked infplace. Three. or more tumbler discs--38 are rotatively mounted on a pin 40'inthecasing 10 and each is provided with a recess 41a. Wrhen the recesses of all of the discs are moved into registration andproperly positioned they are adaptedto accommodatetheflug41 ofthelockinglelement 2O whereby the vlatter-'may be retracted to release the shackle 17 and the bolts i 18 yand 19.1 Movementof thev front-mostdisc 38 is transmitted to the other discs by the usual inter-engaging lugs 43, saidlugs act, as Y usual, to transmit movement from one disc to the other. vided with two'recesses 43 which are exposed through a keyhole 44al in the cover 16.
A rotatable releasingmember 44is pivoted at 45 in the easing-10 at the side of the element 20 opposite the-disesv 38 andfupon being'turned to the vproper ,position-,Tit places the elementv 2O against the tension/of the i V springs 32 and 38, provided thediscs k38 are in proper position, thus permitting` the vopening of the shackle 17 eecting the retraction of the bolts 18 and 19. The rotatable releasing member 44 is Vprovided with recesses 46.
A key 47'having a bifocated extremity 48 is adapted for insertion in the recesses 43 whereby the discs 38 'may be properlyk set, and subsequent to ,this operation thekey'is removedfromthe key hole 44a, inserted in the recesses46 through the key hole 49 and upon 'being turned eects the movement of the locking element 20 to inoperative position. The i 'Ihe front-most disc 38 is prothe bolt 18 whereby to retain the latter in retracted position when the bolt is not in use. When removed, the wire may be inserted beneath the spring 32 in which position it is held, as shown in Fig. 3 in dotted lines.
As will be understood from the foregoing the shackle 17 and bolts 18 and 19 may all be used simultanenously, if so desired, and being distributed over. three Vof the four side walls of the casing, are capable of convenient use. On the other hand, the shackle 17 may be dispensed with, ifdesired, by removal of the'pin 22, or the bolt 18 may be locked against operation by insertion of the pin 28 in the opening 31 and recess of the wall 11. rIhe bolts 19 are at all times operated by the element 20, but when the latter is in locked position they close the slots in the side wall 14 and prevent tampering with the internal parts of the lock. The bolt 18 is provided with aY groove 55 which in its retracted position receives t-he wedgeportion of the U-shaped steel wire 51, one angular terminal of which is longer than the other and is adapted to engagein an aperture `56in the Wall ofthe casingl toreta-in the bolt in retracted position.
The graduated scale 50 of the key is formed intwo parts embracing the shank of the key and when said parts are foldedv lie flatly upon said key shank. The latter is provided with a series of recesses 57 and'when the parts of the.' scale 50 are ,extended intoright angular position theyenter the one or theother ofl the recesses 57'andretainthe scale 5()V invadjust-ed position, thus adapting the key to use according lto various types of mountings yof the lock.
