TAB FOB REGISTRATION CARDS OR THE LIKE Application filed May 31, 1930, Serial No. 458,831, and in Austria. June 8, 1929.
This invention relates to improvements in tabs which consist of a frame provided with a window and with three bent ears, the two outside ears serving for threading through slots of a file or card to secure. the tab to the same, while the middle ear forms the back-wall of the window.
One mode of carrying out the present invention is illustrated by way of example on the accompanying sheet of drawings in which Fig. 1 shows a tab fitted to a card. 7 Figs. 2 and 3 are sectional views, the sections being taken on lines 22 and 3-3 1 respectively of Fig. 1.
Fig. 4 is a view of the blank for the tab cut or stamped from a sheet of suitable material.
The tab consists of a frame a and ears b, 0
and d extending outwardly from the lower a side of the frame. The outside ears I) and d, after having been bent into a position substantially parallel to the plane of the frame a, form clamping members, which are threaded through slots e formed in pairs I adjacent an edge of a registration card f and thereby not only secure the tab to the latter but also prevent its lateral displacement. The ends of the ears I) and 11 extend up behind the body of the tab and the winas shown clearly in Fi ure 1. The

back-wall for the window, the bend atthe 5 bottom of the-said upturned ear 0 being adapted to rest on the edge of the registration card in order to prevent the inwardsliding of the tab. Y The side edges gof the 40 frame are flanged rearwardly in order to slips or'labels when inserted in the tab. The
Thus an essential feature of the present invention consists in that not only the tab reventany lateral'movement. of the index.-
aisaid index slips or the like rest on the bent but also the index slip behind the window are retained in desired position and also the adjacent registration cards cannot be entangled with one another. I claim 1. Tab for use in connection with registration cards or the like, comprising in combination, aframe, and a number of ears at one edge of said frame, said ears adapted to be bent to lie in planes substantially parallel tothe plane of said frame, the outside ears being adapted to be threaded through slots of the registration card, while the ear disposed between the outside ears forms the back-wall of the window in said frame.
2. Tab for use in, connection with registration cards or the like, comprising in combination a frame, and three ears at one edge of said frame, said ears adapted to be bent to lie in planes substantially parallel to the piane of said frame, the two outside ears fin adapted to be threaded through slots 0 ear forms the back-wall of the window in said frame.
