TOOTHBRUSH AND TUMBLER RACK Filed Nov. 28, 1927' l stenteol May 12, 123
MAX KADEN, F KEV] BRITAIN, CONNECTICUT TOOTHBRUSH AND TUMBLER- RACK Application filed November 28, 1927.
My invention relates to improvements in tooth brush and tumbler racks in the form of a bath-room fixture, comprising a suitable supporting bracket and rack structure that is supported thereby and which rack structure serves to support a tumbler and also a plurality of tooth brushes, and the object of my improvement is to so construct the tooth brush and tumbler racl: that the rack structure or body of annular form is separably mounted upon the bracket; that has a troughor the like for receiving the edge portion or the tumbler and which trough has lugs or the like on the bottom for supporting said edge por tion in raised position and also is provided with openings for ventilation; and that, furthermore, is constructed and arranged so that the brush-heads or active bristle end portions the tooth brushes are housed within the space that is enclosed by the tumbler when in t e inverted position and with the edge portion entered within the trough.
In the accompanying drawings 2- Figure l is a front elevation of my improved tooth brush and tumbler rack embodying my invention and showing a tumbler and plurality of tooth brushes supported Figure l is a fragmentary sectional view on an enlarged scale on the line 44 of Fig. 3. c Figure 5 is a fragn'ientary view of the bracket and part of the supporting ring 5 shown in plan view.
Figure 6 is side elevation on the same scale as 2 of modification.
Figure '3 is a sectional view on an enlarged. scale of part of the same.
Figure 8 shows another modification.
My improved tooth brush and tumbler rack is in the form or" a bath-room fixture that has a bracket 10 in the particular form that is shown by which it can be supported from the side wall or the like and the rack structure 11 that is supported thereby is annular form and the separable connection between these parts is provided in the form of a ring 12 within which said rack structure 11 fits by its periphery 13.
Serial No. 236,126.
In the form that is shown in Figs. 1 to 5 ructure 11 is made of sheet inclusive the racl; Sb and comprises as the means for receivactual support for said edge portion 16 's a plurality of lugs 1?, as shown, or any to an upward project-ion from the bottom 18 of the trench 15 so that said edge portion 16 is spaced iron'i said bottom 18. A plurality of ventilatino' openings 19 is also provided in said bots 18 that serve in particular to provide means for air circulation for the trough 15.
The tumbler supporting lugs 17 are provided in a convenient manner by material that is forced laterally in forming the ventilating openings 19.
EXtGHCllRQ' mowardly from the bottom 18 on the outside is the outer wall 20 that engages wit 1 the supportin ring 12 and on the inside is the inner wall 21.
The housing recesses 22 for the tooth brushes 23 are provided by suitably shaped and spaced horns 2 Q in the usual niannoi, ent instance heads 2 are located within the space that is enclosed by the side wall 2'7 of t 1e tumbler 1% and in slightly spaced relation to said wall As shown, there are four tooth brush rece recesses 22, distributed around at 7 degree intervals, and the ventilating ii) are located individually radially le of said recesses structure described the tumbler tooth brushes and g for the 1 ready seection of any inalso permits 0 dividual tooth brush that In y be desired as the heads 28 are v'sible through the transparent wall 27 of the tumbler 1a.
in the modification that is shown in Figs.
'6 and Y the rack structure 31 is made of glass. In this structure the tooth brush supporting horns 352 project inwardly from the inside wall 23 'ough 3 s, but from the lower edge portion. 5 t iereo'li Thus the major portion 36 of the inside face of the inside wall 33 extends p 'arliy from the upper supporting edge or tacr P3? of the horns Said major u iper portion 36 meets the several. st porting faces 37 in a corner 38, and is positioned so as to serve as a backing or stop for the opposed heads 26 of thetooth brushes that are sin ported by the said horns 32. Thus the upper portion 36 oi the wall 33 for the trough 3 L serves as limiting means for the tooth brushes to prevent contact thejeo' with the opposed and adjacent A V 1. side wall or the tumbler 14.
The supporting faces 37 of the horns 32 are preferably inclined. so as to tend to have the tooth l: has supported thereby slide towards the corner 38 and against the opposed and adjacent limiting stop wall. 36.
By having the rack s acture removable from the supporti bracket in the manner described the rack c vn be readily cleaned and sterilized in any manner desired.
The structure is compact and convenient for use.
In the modification that shown in Fig. 8 the rack structure 1:1 is made of sheet metal. The supporting horns i2 project inwardly from the inside wall 43 ot the trough M, but from a portion thereof that corresponds substantially to the bottom edge thereof. Thus the major portion 46 of the inside face of said inside wall 43 extends upwaruly from and above the upper faces 47 of the horns 412 and forms a corner thereith. The horns 42 may be bent at any angle desired for positioning the tooth brushes toaids the inner edge portions of the individual receiving recesses 52. The horns 4-2 are provided. in the form of tongues that are formed from the material of the side wall 4-3, by cutting generally along three sides and forcing the matei 'al inwardly and bending along the fourth side, thus leaving an opening 51 in the inside wall 4C3 corresponding to each of said. tongues or horns 42. At the top edge of: the inside wall there may be an inwardly directed lip or flange 54 that is positioned so as to serve as the backing proper for the heads of the tooth brushes under conditions of use.
I claim as my invention 1. A tooth brush holder comprising a cylii'ulrical wall that is provided with inwardly directed means for supporting a tooth brush, a serond cylindrical wall spaced from said first mentioned wall and supported therefrom by means of an intermediate platform of annular form, and a ing engaged with the periphery 01? said second Wall serving as the support for said holder.
2. In a tooth brush holder, a tooth brush portion.
MAX KADEY.
