IMPROVEMENT INCLAMP-'BOBBINS FR SPINDLES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No.. 180,000, dated July 18, 1876; application tiled June 15, 1876.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM C. BURCH, of Gloucester Cit-y, county ot Camden, and State of New Jersey, have invented certain Improved "flamp-Bobbins for Sawyers Spindle, of which the following` is a specification:
My invention relatesl to seating a spiral spring Within the bobbin ot' a spinning-machine, and having such spring to correspond in form to the spindle, which is inserted lengthwise within the coil otl the spring. The spring.,I should be so set with respect to the spindle that when the latter turns to the right the spring will be opened and allow free. revolution ot' the spindle, but on the contrary, when the spindle is turned to the left, the spring, by
-reason ofthe frictional contact, will be wound up and closed, and will prevent revolution. Without some preventing device the bobbin would rise or turn backward upon the spindle.
My said improvement will be further described with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure l, represents a side view of the bobbin partially cut away, so as to display the spindle B therein, and the bearing' or seat E ofthe spring D in the bobbin C, the bearing E being partially cut away, also, in order 'to display the position of the spring upon the spindleyand Fig. 2 is a longitudinal central section ot' that portion of the bobbin which embraces the bearing itself and a side view of the spring seated therein.
Without further verbal description my said improvement will be fully understood.
The action ofthe spiral spring D serves just the purposerequired; and,
Having i'ully described my improvement, what I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
