This invention relates to improvements in catamemal sacks, and more partlcularly to an improved device made from thin rubber having means for receiving a deodorizing 5 powder and for positively clamping an absorbent pad therein,said sack being so constructed and made of soft pliable material that it may be instantly cleaned in cold water, dried and used immediately thereafter.

An object of the invention is to provide an improved catamenial sack or sanitary pad support which will be molded from thin rubher, and which will be provided with molded deodorant receiving pockets in the inner or upper surface of the sack.

Another object of the invention is to provide an improved catamenial sack or sanitary pad support which will be molded from thin rubber and will be formed with a slight head on its edges to reinforce the same,rsaid sack being formed of rubber prevents the pad when moist from having any change in temperature. v I

Like characters of reference are used throughout the following specification and the accompanying drawings to designate corresponding parts.

In carrying out my invention, I provide a catamenial sack having a body'portion 1 formed with oppositely disposed laterally extending pad clam ing strips 2 at the oppo site ends of said b0 y portion, and having a slight bead 3 formed along all of the edges of the body portion and pad clamping strips.

A mold is utilized to mold my improved catamenial sack which is formed of thin rubber, and during the molding operation the head 3 is formed about the edges of the sack, as Well as the depressed pockets 4 for holding powdered deodorizing material.- Thepock ets 4 are disposed only in the upper surface of the body portion 1 and in the central portion thereof.

After the rubber, blank is molded, the oppositely disposed laterally extending pad clamping strips 2 are folded inwardly across the ends of the body portion 1 until they over- Y lap, thereby formlng the openings 5 at the opposite ends of the sack through which the attaching ends 6 of the sanitary pad 7 are extended. The overlapping pad clamping strips 2 are then vulcanized together, thereby forminga complete pocket or sack for the reception of a sanitary pad 7. Thefour corners of the sack are formed on a bias, as clearly illustrated in the drawings, and are secured to the overlying portions of the clamping strip 2.

Fromvthe foregoing description, it will be apparent that when the catamenial sack is to be used, a powdered deodorant will be sprinkled in the pockets 4 in the upper surface of of the body portion 1, and a sanitary pad 7 will be inserted within the sack with its 0ppositely extending attaching ends 6 extended through the openlngs 5 in the sack, and the said ends drawn taut. Due to the overlapping pad clamping strips, and to the fact that the ends of the pad 7 are securely wedged into the opposite ends of the sack, it will be readily seen that upon pulling out on the ends 6, the said pad clamping strips will securely clamp down on the opposite ends of the pad to securely hold the same in position within the sack. The usual stress or pressure on the ends of the pad when adjusting the same for wearing, will be sufiicient to cause the sack to efiiciently and properly retain the pad within the same. The beaded edges of the sack will have a natural tendency to assist in supporting the pad in its proper position within the sack at all times.

It will be understood that many minor changes in detail of construction may be resorted to without departure from the spirit of the invention.

Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is:

1. A rubber catamenial sack comprising a fiat body portion having substantially parallel side edges and end edges, the said body portion having its corners angularly cut at points between its adjacent sides andends, and pad clamping means overlying said body portion parallel to the plane thereof consisting of transversely disposed strips attached to the end portions of the parallel side edges and to the edges of the cut corners and unattached at the ends of the body portion, forming openings at the ends of the sack, the inner unattached edges of the strips being arranged on a bias above the body portion thereby forming V-shaped clamping strips, whereby a pad may be positioned fiat upon the body portion with its ends positively clamped between the clamping strips and the body portion, and the gauze attaching strips of the pad extended through the openings in the opposite ends of the sack.

A rubber catamenial sack comprising a fiat body portion having substantially parallel side edges and end edges, the said body portion having its corners angularly cut at points between its adjacent sides and ends, depressed deodorant reciving pockets formed in the up er surface of said body portion, and pad c mping means overlying said body portion parallel to the plane thereof consisting of transversely disposed strips attached to the end portions of the parallel side edges and to the edges of the cut corners and unattached at the ends of the body portion forming openings at the ends of, the sack, where-
