IMPROVEMENT IN SPlKE-DRAWERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 179,272, dated June 27, 1876 application filed March 13, 1876.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ANDREW J. CONWAY, of Salina, Athens county, Ohio, have invented an Improvement in Spike-Drawers, of which the following is a specification:
My invention consists of a gripingtongs suspended from a toothed bar, which gears with a toothed segment of a lever pivoted to a stand, on which isa slideway for the toothed bar, all so arranged that the gripe of the tongs on the spike is increased as the power applied to the lever increases, and a powerful spike-drawer is produced.
Figure 1 is a sectional elevation of my improved spike-drawer, and Fig. 2 is a front elevation.
