Another object of the invention is to provide an attachment which may b e formed from a single sheet of material scored, cut and folded into shape, thus eliminating Waste and making for economy.

A construction designed to carry out the invention will be hereinafter described, to-

gether with other features of the invention.

The invention will be more readily understood from a reading of the following specification and by reference to the accompanying drawings, in which an example of the invention is shown and wherein:

In the drawings the numeral 10 designates a substantially rectangular sheet of cardboard, fibre-board, or any other material suitable for the purpose. In forming the attachment, the corners of the sheet are cutoi scoredand Aready to be folded into shape and f at 11. At the central portion the edge of the sheet is rounded at 12 and cut inward at 13. A tongue is formed bycutting along the curved line 14 and slits 15 and 16 respectively are provided on opposite sides of the tongue, as is shoWn in Fig. 3. At each end of the slit 15 curved cuts 17 arev provided,

while at each end of the slitlf curved cuts 18 are formed. Short slits 19 are'provided 'near each end of the slit 16 and parallel thereto.

The material contiguous to the slit 15 and cuts 17 is bent outwardly'along the scored line 20 to form a fiapA- with tabs B at each end. The material contiguous tothe slit 16 and cuts 18 is bent outwardly along the scored line 21 to forma longitudinal tongue C. ,From each end of each curved edge 12, scores 22 are directed inwardly to a common point at one end of the out 14 to form shoulder "panels D. Scores 23 are also directed inwardly to said common points from the outer ends of theedges 13 to form supports E for the shoulder panels. It will be seen that the, sheet 10 may be readil cut and scored as described and the operation may be carried out expeditiously and inexpensively.

l/Vhen it is desired to apply the attachnient to the wire garment hanger 24, the sheet is folded longitudinally so that the guard F,

'p formed by the cut 1&4, will project upwardly and the inner ends of the shoulder panels l) will rest on the inclined members 25 of the hanger. The flap A and tabs B are ushed through the opening or slot formed y-the .Cuts 16 and 18 so as to cover the bottom memher 26 of the hanger. The' tabs are engaged in the slits 19, whereby the attachment is fastened in position on the hanger and its depending portions. are also held together.

Whenthe sheet 10 is folded `for placing on the hanger, it is of course necessary to see that the panels D and the supports E arev properly bent along the scores-22 and 23 so that thevsupports will underhel the panels. The` panels will be supported above the inclined members 25 lof the hanger and the hinged supports E willcontribute a sprmginess to the shoulder panels which wlll greatly aid in properly supporting the shoulders of a coat. The rounded ends l2 will also conform to the shoulders of the coat and prevent creasing or puckering. The lower edge of the tongue C will overhang the flap A so as to engage a skirt or pair of trousers supported by this portion of the attachment and act as a locking device to prevent the garment slipping back through the opening.

The guard F will extend above the inclined members 25 of the hanger and thus protect the neck portion of the coat from coming into contact with the wire. This guard will also provide ample space for advertising matter. The attachment will practically conceal the wire hanger and will keep the garment in proper shape without the use of tissue paper or other padding.

It is pointed out that except for the tabs B, there are no interlocking or colnplicated parts and the attachment may be re-used a number of times, thus not only making -for economy in production but a saving in actual use.

Various changes in the size and shape of the different parts, as well as modifications and alterations, may be made within the scope of the appended claims.

What I claim, is:

1. The combination with a wire garment hanger having inclined top members and a transverse bottom member, of an attachment comprising a sheet folded overthe hanger having shoulder supports overlying the top members of the hanger and provided with a iap overlying the bottom member of the hanger and a garment opening contiguous to the iiap.

2. The combination with a wire garment hanger having inclined top members and a transverse bottom member, of an attachment comprising a sheet folded over the hanger having shoulder supports overlying the top membersof thehanger and provided .with a flap overlying the bottom member of the hanger, the attachment also including an upstanding guard between the shoulder supports, whereby garments carriedgby /the attachment are supportedI free from contact with the wire hanger.

3. A sheet for forming a garment hanger attachment provided with an arched central cut and flared scores diverging fromeach end of said central cut, said sheet having longitudinal cuts on each side of the central cut and being scored contiguous to one of said longitudinal cuts.

4. A sheet for forming a garment hanger attachment provided with a central guard, flared shoulder panels extending from each end of the guard, and a longitudinal iap cut and folded up from said sheet, said sheet havin a longitudinal opening for receiving said ap. y

6.' A garment hanger attachment comprising a folded sheet having an upstanding central guard curved to conform to a wire garment hanger and provided with enlarged shoulder supports extending outwardly from each end of the guard for overlying a garment hanger, said sheet also comprising means for interlocking its folded portions and for engaging over the lower portion of a garment hanger and forming a garment support.

7. The combination with a wire garment hanger having inclined top members and a transverse bottom member, of an attachment lcomprising a sheet folded over the hanger and having shoulder supports overlying the top members of the hanger, the shoulder supports being supported to yield downwardly, said sheet being provided with a iap for overlying the bottom member of the hanger, and a slot for receiving said flap.

8. The combination with a wire garment hanger having inclined top members and a transverse bottom member, of an attachment comprising a sheet folded over the hanger and having shoulder supports overlying the top members of the hanger, the shoulder supports ybeing supported to yield downwardly, said sheet being provided with a flap for overlying the bottom member of the hanger and a slot for receiving said iiap, and tabs on the flap, the sheet having slits for receiving said tabs, the sheet also being provided with a longitudinal tongue located at said slot for engaging garments therein.

9. A garment hanger attachment comprising a vfolded sheet having a longitudinal openingv for receiving a garment and-provided 'with a longitudinal swinging tongue contiguous to said opening for engaging the garment and retaining the same.

10. The combination with a wire garment hanger, of an attachment comprising a sheet folded over and enclosing said hanger, said sheet having a longitudinal slot, and a flap passing through said slot and also through said hanger,vsaid flap being fastened to one of the folded portions of said sheet, whereby the hanger is confined Within the attachment and against displacement therefrom.
