Each article 1li consists of a body of confectionery 15, Fig. 4, inclosed within a wrapper 1G of thin flexible sheet material, usually celophane, having its opposite ends formed into twist-s 1? and 18 whose outer end portions 19 are loose and fluffy and are connected with the intermediate body of the wrapper by tightly twisted neck portions 20. These neck portions 20 occupythe vertical runways 10 and 11 and the latter are preferably made of such width that the pair of opposed parallel edges of the wall which border each runway serve by engagement with the necks 20 of the articles to maintain the units of each file or stack in vertical alinement and to guide them in their descent. Articles of confectionery such as shown in Fig. 4 are done up in wrappers whose intermediate body portion is colorless and transparent so as to expose to view the body of confectionery 15, while the twisted ends are opaque and of a bright attractive color, some of the packages having twisted ends of one color and others having twisted ends of other colors. It will be clear, therefore, that when my improved holder is loaded with articles or packages having twisted ends of diierent colors, these twisted ends are disposed upon the outside of the superstructure in vertical 'F rows presenting a variegated bank of colored flower-like twisted ends which gives to the structure a highly attractive appearance. Furthermore, the twisted ends of the lowermost articles of each file or stack are con- Veniently accessible so that' said article can be readily removed when desired, from either the back or the front of the holder.

In loading the holder the articles are passed through the entrance enlargements 13 into the box 5 from either the back or front thereof and then when lowered toward their runways 1() and 11 the cam edges 21 direct the twisted neck portions 2O of the articles into the runways or slots 10 and 11.

As a closure for the upper end of boxc I may provide the latter Vwith a cover 22 made with a skirt 23 within which the upper end of the box is telescopically and removably fitted. The skirt 23 also serves as a closure for the entrance enlargements 13.

When the front and rear walls 8 and 9 of box 5 are made from thin sheet metal that is weakened by extensive cutting away thereof to form the runways with their end enlargements, wall reinforcing and supporting struts 23 may be provided within the box 5, said struts being herein shown as vertical sheet metal partitions disposed between the vertical files or stacks of articles and having their front and rear edges soldered or otherwise fastened to the front and rear walls, respectively, of box 5.

What I claim is:

1. A holder for packages of confectionery having twisted end extensions, said holder comprising a base provided with a box-like superstructure having front and back walls of stiff sheet material formed with several pairs of oppositely disposed narrow slots adapted to be occupied by the twisted end extensions of vertical files of packages stacked upon said base between said walls and whose opposite side edges are adapted to engage said twisted end extensions so as to hold said packages in vertical alinement, the slots of each of said pairs being enlarged at their lower ends to provide exits for the lowermost package of its file at opposite sides of said superstructure.

2. A holder for packages of confectionery having twisted end extensions, said holder being constructed in accordance with claim 1 and having both slots of each pair enlarged at their upper ends to provide entrances for the packages at opposite sides of said superi structure.

3. A holder for packages of confectionery having twisted end extensions, said holder being constructed in accordance with claim 1 and having both slots of each pair also enlarged at their upper ends to provide entrances for the packages at opposite sides of said superstructure with each entrance enlargement bordered in part by cam edges converging toward the upper end of its slot.
