Referring to the drawing in detail it will be seen that the numeral 5 denotes a bearin having a reduced portion over which one end of a sleeve 6 may be disposed and locked in place by means of a set screw 7. There is Journaled in the bearin 5 a shaft 8 and the end of this shaft wit 'n the sleeve 6 has formed therein a square socket 9 while on the other end ofthe shaft there is fixed a beveled gear 10.
With the above and numerous other ob-v ects in view as will appear as the descrip- Arms 11 and 12 extend from opposite sides of the bearing and are curved forwardly and terminate respectively in bearings 14 and 15. A shaft 16 is journaled in the bearings 14 and 15 to be at right angles to the shaft PATIENT oFricE 'l 8 and has a beveled gear 17 thereon in mesh with the beveled gear 10.
On the end of the shaft 16 to the outer side of the bearing 14 there is mounted a circular or disk saw 18 or any other suitable or desired tool and this saw is held in place by means of a nut 19 threaded on said end of the shaft. An L-shaped depth gauge 19 has its shorter leg extended through an open-- ing in the bearing 15 and. is adjustably locked in place by meansof a set screw 20 so that the longer leg extends along the shaft 16 the desired distance therefrom.
A sleeve 22 is slidable on the lon er leg of the depth gauge 19 and held in di erent adjusted positions by means of a set screw 23. A width gauge 24 is mounted on the sleeve 22. A shield 25 is disposed over the upper portion of the saw 18 and held in this position by means of bracket 26 secured to one side of the sleeve 6.
In'the present exemplification of the invention the. sleeve 6 is secured on an electric drill 2'] by means of a set screw 28 so that the chuck 29 of the drill is disposed inside the sleeve 6 and has one end of a spindle 30 locked therein, the other end thereof being squared as at 31 and received in the socket 9.
Thus it will be seen that when the electric drill is turned on, the spindles 30 will be rotated thereby rotating the shaft 9, the gearings 10 and 1'? and the shaft 16 to rotate the saw 18. Although I have specifically exemplified the invention herein with the saw it is to be understood that other rotary tools of advantage enumerated as desirable in the statement of the invention and the above description.
It will be apparent that chan es in the details of construction, in the com ination and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed or sacrificin any of its advantages.
avlng thus described my invention, what I claim as new is:
A saw of the character described comprising a supporting sleeve, a bearing in one end thereof, arms projecting from opposite sides of the bearing, aligned bearings on the free ends of the arms, a shaft extending rotatably through the aligned bearings, means operatively connecting the shaft to a source of power for actuation thereby, a saw fixed on the shaft adjacent one of the aligned bearings, a substantially L-shaped depth gauge having one of its legs extending for sliding adjustment through the other aligned bearing, the other leg of the depth gauge disposed parallel to the shaft and terminating in spaced relation to the saw, means for securing the depth gauge in adjusted position, a sleeve mounted for longitudinal sliding adjustment on said other leg of the depth gauge, means for securin the sleeve in adjusted position, and a Width gau e formed integrally on the sleeve and extending therefrom in parallelism with the other leg of the depth gauge.
