10 be handled as a unit, easily inserted in the drain and removed therefrom, simple in structure, efficient in use, and cheap to manufacture.
Other objects of this invention will become 1 5 apparent as the .description 4thereof given hereunder proceeds, reference being had to the accompanying drawing wherein Figure 1 is a plan view of the drain protector, and
Figure 2 is an elevational view thereof. The drain protector is generically denoted by the reference numeral 10, and comprises a circular flange member 11, U-shaped in crosssection, theopen end of which extends inwardly. Inserted inthe flange member 11 and secured thereto in any desired manner is a wire screening 12, the mesh of which may T be of any desired shape and size. Preferably the flange 'member 11 and wire screening 12, which essentially comprise the screen of thev drain protector, are of such a size as to render the same more or less inflexible.

extend above the screen 12 when the `same is positioned over the drain serves to prevent the screen frombecoming clogged up. with solid foreign matter, thereby permitting water or fluid to flow the drain. The extended portion also serves as a means to insertor remove the whole device from a drain.
4While a preferred embodimentof drain protector has been shown the same is susceptin ble of various changes within the scope of the appended claim. Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is i In a drain protector, a screen comprising an outer flange member and a wire screening attached to said fiange member, and a plurality of legs secured to said screen and spaced from the center of said screen and from each v other, each of said legs comprising a vertical GEORGE B. It is to be understood, that the radial distance of each of the legs 13 vfrom the center of thescreen 12 are equal. The horizontal upper and lower portions 16 of the legs 13 extend radially inwardly and are permanently` secured together by means ofsolder 17 or any other suitable fastening means.
The legs 13 as described above are rigidly secured to the screen 12 and `serve to position the screen over kthe drain (not shown). The portion of the legsV 13 which Y mo
