ROTARY PUMP AND THE LIKE Filed Sept. 19, 1928 Patented Sept. '23, 1930 MAX G. ROSENTHAL, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS ROTARY PUMP AND THE LIKE Application filed September 19, 1928. Serial No. 306,793.
This invention relates to that type of rotary motors, pumps, meters and the like, in which the rotor member carries a series of sliding piston blades, adapted for sliding con- 8 tact with the inner face of the eccentrlcally disposed chamber of the stator member of the appliance, an example of which is shown in my prior Patent No. 1,569,306, dated January 12, 1926, and this improvement has for its ob- 10 ject.
To provide a structural formation and combination of parts in the above mentioned type of rotary apparatus, by means of whlch a durable and efiicient fluid tight joint is maintained between the contact ends of the radial piston blades of the rotor member in their eccentric travel around and in contact with the closed here or chamber of the stator member, all as will hereinafter more fully appear.
In the accompanying drawing Fig. l, is a transverse section of a rotary pumpor the like apparatus embodying the preferred form of the invention. Fig. 3, is a fragmentary sectional elevatlon of the central portion of a pump or like apparatus illustrating a modified construction of parts.
Like reference numerals indicate like parts in the different views.
In the construction shown, the stator member 1 is of any usual form, having central piston chamber, approximately circular in cross section for the greater portion of its extent, with such portion merged into a segmental portion of less extent and in which the rotor member has bearing.
In addition said stator member is formed with passages 2 and 3, for the inlet and outlet of fluid to and from its piston chamber, and is also provided with closure heads 4, for the respective ends of such piston chamber.
The rotor member 5, of the usual cylindrical form, is arranged eccentrically in the piston chamber of the stator member 1, and in close contact with the above described segmental portion of said piston chamber. In addition the rotor member is formed with a plurality of substantially radial recesses 6, for the reception and movement of the piston members of the s tructure. The construction-so far described in common to the present class of rotary pumps and the like, and is fully disclosed in 1,569,306.

In a rotary pump ormotor of the ral4o dially moving piston type, the combination of a stator having a circular piston chamber, a rotor having a recess extending its entire length, a piston blade associated with said recess and comprising a plurality of thin 45 plates in close sliding contact one with the no other, a rocker member forming a common bearing for the inner ends of said plates, the bearing face of said rocker member having a curvature the same as the curvature for the 50 inner wall of the piston chamber of the stator,
and a spring forming'a yielding abutment for said rocker member.
